Another 'What GPU should I buy' thread!!!!!

Greetings all,

I'm looking for some advice/help in finally making my decision to upgrade my GPU. I have been giving this a ton of thought and research for what feels like the past 6 months! The more I thought about it and really analyzed what my needs are the more confused I got!

Here are the basics:
Gaming wise, I use my PC to play racing games almost exclusively. I am in the process of finishing a formula 1 style racing rig and will be running triples at 5760x1080@60hz. Right now I am making due using a 448core gtx 465 and my hd3000 on the 2600k using SoftTh. I get reasonable frame rates (40-60fps) but limited to DX9 and medium details in iRacing. AC is undriveable on anything but the lowest settings. I would like to run some high details/AA on these titles but still have >60fps. Aside from the very occasional FPS game, the only other stressful thing I do (at least recently) is rendering 2-5hr long HD videos.

Here's where I'm at right now: the GTX 770 4Gb initially looked very attractive considering its price. My confusion comes from researching the benefits of a 4Gb vs 2Gb, 256bit vs 384bit mem interface, & effective mem clock. I've found a few articles/posts saying at higher 5760x1080 resolution the 384bit interface has a bigger impact than the larger amount of vram. Earlier today I also came across this review of a clock-for-clock comparison of a 2Gb vs 4Gb gtx 770 and was pretty startled at the results. ( http://alienbabeltech.com/main/gtx-770-4gb-vs-2gb-tested/3/ ) Surely this has to be a fluke, no? Almost every other review/benchmark online contradicts these results. (Ie: At that res the more vram the better) Regarding the memory interface, the difference between an asus dcu2 4gb 770 and an evga 780 is roughly 60gb/s. Is that extra 25% really worth an extra £90 (or $150 to me)? At what point does the bandwidth (or lack of) start effecting framerates?

The other piece of the puzzle for me is twofold: I am fairly new to video editing/etc but have been playing around a lot with Vegas Pro 12 and Premier Pro. I know a lot of the rendering is done by the CPU, but I have had some pretty impressive differences between cpu only and cpu/gpu rendering. How do the 700-series cards work with Vegas Pro? Finally, thinking a bit longer term (1-2yrs) I would like to put the whole system under water to make it nice and silent. (This 465 is a hair dryer) It seems if I went with the 770 4Gb the full cover waterblock selection would limit me to only a few choices.

I'm sorry for the extremely long rant. I hope it in some way can reflect on the amount of thought and research I have tried to put into my purchase. Money is generally pretty tight so my upgrades end up staying with me for years. I'd like to not break the bank, my budget for this would be <$400 (~£245). Any thoughts, advice, links, etc would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
