An issue!

Hi all.

I have a problem and i think it's my motherboard.

Everytime i want to turn on my computer i need to hold the power button down for varying amounts of time just to get it to turn on. Sometimes i need to hold it down for around 20 seconds, sometimes more than a couple of minutes, but it never turns on instanly. It's quite frustrating as you can imagine.

However when my system is up and running all i have to do is press the power button once and it will turn off (or give me the option to do so).

I thought it might be the power cable itself, but replacing it did nothing, and i've tried another PSU to no effect.

Just wandered if anyone else has ever had a similar problem or can tell me what my problem might be.

I could always RMA the board - assuming it is the board (dunno what else it could be), but i want to try to fix it or find out what the problem is, maybe i'm missing something obvious.

Try unplugging anything not essential to the operation of the computer and try again. Something could have caused an intermittent short, which if you have a decent power supply will prevent it powering up (as opposed to just breaking)

Unplug everything and leave just the 4/8 pin for CPU and 24pin for Motherboard connected. Try now. If it does work then start plugging one by one until you find the faulty device.

Well i tried doing what you both suggested but no luck.

I tried unplugging everything non-essential, including RAM but still getting a random delay when turning on computer.

I contacted scan.co.uk and let them know of the issue, so i'll just have to RMA the board when i get paid.

Thanks for the advise though.^^

i have this issue and have to power on manually buy pressing a button on my board its my case power wire/button that was broken..

I ditched my original power/reset buttons and cables and bought some new ones. No change.

Also tries different PSU. I think i've tried everything tbh. Reset bios, cleared CMOS etc.

Think my only course now is RMA. Dont know what else it could be.
