AMD's Robert Hallock explains Ryzen 3rd Gen's Precision Boost Overdrive tech

I'd be interested in seeing how it compares to manually overclocking. Would be useful information for the people who don't care about overclocking and SFX sized systems where cooling performance limits high overclocks
 
So in essence what he is saying is that to get the most out of a new Ryzen you need an X570 motherboard, basically.

All well and dandy, but he can keep his Pee B.O. That sounds pretty rancid :D
 
Precision boost works pretty well on my 2700X, 4.35Ghz on all 8 cores with one bios setting. It's the first system I've ever used where manual overclocking almost seems pointless, considering that boost.

You will get what says on the box if you use old chipsets, and low end X570 motherboards. Fair enough. If you pay more for a good X570 board you will get extra without any hustle, just because you have a better board. That sounds nice, and it is very good for common people.

And you can also ignore all that he said, slap some decent cooling, overclock the bejesus out of your CPU, and get all the performance, all the time. Which is what will all permanent residents in OC3D ward certainly do. :D
