AMD's Radeon Software Adrenalin is causing a lot of DX9 games to stop working

As a proud Vega 56 owner who has been thoroughly enjoying Adrenalin this is very saddening and frustrating news. There's some classic Dx9 games I've been meaning to go back and play. I'll update this post with my findings.

I'd have a tenner he wouldn't buy AMD even if they were gold plated.

Well there goes your tenner since I do have an AMD APU powered PC in the house that gets regular use. Their CPUs have their place, their video cards though? Ehh...

Breaking compatability with a bunch of popular older games is unfortunate, the apparent refusal to fix it however is straight amateur hour. Why would anyone but an ardent fanboy support that sort of nonsense.

It's not even a big deal...

And who are you to tell anyone what is or isn't a big deal. If we need to find the silliest comment in the thread, yours is it by a mile I'm afraid.

I would probably go with ray not speaking for AMD and having a new toilet cleaning job after the new year

I'm the same person you are to tell anyone what is or isn't a big deal. Yours is the most ironic comment by a mile lol

You don't assault somebody else's opinion with your own and act like your the king of a forum.

You know how sad it is that your getting upset over such a minor issue? It's truly baffling. You could easily just not install the latest driver. Let alone the fact that AMD themselves haven't commented on the issue. An employee isn't always informed. Certainly saying they aren't and causing a fuss could very well make the higher-ups change there mind. So you can cool your jets. You come off as an Nvidia fanboy who just trashes AMD cards. Which is another point for irony

I mean really so few people plays those old games it's not a deal breaker. And if it is using a driver from a month ago isn't going to hurt you. It's not like this new version offers much in the way of performance. So chill out. It's not a big deal and easily solved

This issue is so minor it's like complaining about Nvidia stopping support for 32bit OS's. If you think that's also an issue than you just must actively find reasons to hate things.

It's no worse than needing a retro rig to play some old games.

Odds are some of those older titles would have problems with high core count CPU's as well. It would serve people better to setup a VM just for that specific game with an older driver and limit the cores.

The problem arises when a new GPU is released that can't use said old drivers.

Agreed. I have a couple older games I still like to play from time to time and I'm sure there are several others that do as well. If you've been a PC gamer for 10+ years there's probably games that you like to play for nostalgia.

I have a feeling AMD will fix this soon but I won't be installing the new drivers til they do.

Pah, that's all too easy haha. Nah why not just moan instead :D

But you have a point. A good one. Microsoft did not support the original Xbox when they moved onto the 360. Loads of people complained about that, but soon got over it because they all bought the 360.

I do still play a load of old games, but horses for courses. I've got 4 rigs. Any way, so long as my Fury X can knock out 1440p in the games I play I'm more than happy to drop to my GTX 950 for older stuff like Fallout 3.

A whole AMD APU? wow, I bet AMD have you on their Christmas list and everything.

Bottom line? if you haven't bought a modern card (IE Vega) by now then the chances are you aren't going to, and were never going to, hence stupid comment.

As for fanboy? that is the biggest fanboy comment I have seen in a while. Most of the Nvidia guys do that. Find one thing about Vega and then say "Pah well screw you AMD won't be buying one now !". They never were, they just say stuff like that so they have an "out" when AMD go bust and they are paying two grand for a GTX 950 equivalent.
