AMD's R9 480 will reportedly be based on AMD's Polaris 10 Silicon

Well, I don't think I am going to count out AMD just yet. I think their new cards are going to surprise everyone, including nVidia.

They are keeping everything very hush hush, also, their stock went up a couple of months ago... I think some peeps got a preview of what was to come.

We need to remember that the 480 name is just a name.

AMD could easily not use the Fury name this round and have the 480 be the second tier card. Like the 280 series was to the 290 series.

AMD have already stated polaris is aimed at mid range mainstream gamers. VEGA will be their 1080/1070 competitor

Doesn't mean it'll be mid range performance. With all the advancements in technology they certainly could redefine what midrange performance can be. Bringing down FX performance to 390 pricing and Vega setting a new standard like the TI.. It's possible.

And link isn't working.. Goes to cover picture:p

Thes tocks went up after they just landed a joint venture deal to sell high performance enterprise x86 processors in the form of Soc's to the Chinese market.

Not going to lie, I was, perhaps, whelmed by Nvidia. Using back of the envelope calc they have about 5% improvement in performance per MHz for synthetic benchmarking. But that could easily come from the better memory compression tech as well as using 5x memory...
The power draw was expected to drop coming down to 16nm FinFet. So I'm hoping AMD deliver a hard hit to Nvidia this round. I think they need it.
