So are they all just server chips/platforms?

Still, I think AMD are going to have to get hyperthreading if they really want to compete at the app end of the market as opposed to just the gaming end.

No real reason yet IF they can push multi core units out. In the long run, 5 plus years multi-threads will become a must for CPUs. Fortunately for AMD, programs rarely use 2 threads let alone require it... 8 threads only useful for multi-purpose for now. Things will change and AMD will have to as well :D and they will
 
AMD could make a killing by simply allowing dual socketed mobo architecture for the enthusiast - well priced too.
