Amd X2 problems??

cheap

New member
running a 3800 x2 (oced @ 2700mhz on air) . it just doesnt feel fast. doesnt seem to be able to handle two tasks.. i un-rar 2 seperate files and it seems to go very slow! seems as slow as a single core cpu.

Is there a way to tell if both cores are running error free? prime95??

Apart from a bios update(A8N-SLI Deluxe) is there anything else needs to be installed when running duel core? drivers???

can i expect much more from the x2 when hooked up to my mach 2?

If you hit ctrl + Shift + esc and then clcick the performance bar make sure both processors are getting some of the load.

check both cores are even on, by check their affinity

i asume you are talking about affinity in prime?! i cant seem to get it to run twice.

am i ment to have two seperate windows of prime running?? if so i cant seem to make this happen.

No press ctrl-al;t-del and get task manager up then go into process and right clock the mouse over the prgram you wish to check - then select affinity and make sure that two cores are available.

Also download the latest AMD dual core driver and install.

Finally, add into your BOOT.INI File the line /usepmtimer.

Assuming both cores can be seen in affinity then that should resolve your problem.

If you want to run two applications at a time u can assign teh affinity to different cores making the process much quicker.

mav the latest driver says

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (exe) 1.2.2.2 - Allows the system to automatically adjust the CPU speed, voltage and power combination that match the instantaneous user performance need. Download this Setup Installation program.

is it ok to let the system automaticlly adjust the cpu/voltage etc, when im manually overclocked??

When u r manually overclocked your settings ovverride those settings - I run it now and dont have any issues and it reallly does make a difference ;).
