AMD Vega presentation leaks

We already know what it's going to be. Star Wars running at 60 FPS on 4k omg look wowz and more drivel about how amazing it is.

Wait until it hits reviewers.

I agree.

But same again people believing the hype like they did with the 400 series cards oh yeah how well did that turn out.....lol

Well it's already faster than Volta. This is gon smash the Titan XP !one2one.

I'm a believer !!! (I also want my brain back too, I preferred the old me).

Huh Volta is not even out yet later this year so how can it be faster.

IMO your buying into Hype and Speculation like you said in other thread wait for reviewers.

I don't get that kind of sarcasm.

It comes from when some one is so excited that they miss type a ! and put a 1 instead.

Example - Vega is faster than Volta!!1!

This joke was then used to falsely enthuse over something. So for example - Vega is faster than Volta !!11oneone.

It then evolved.

Vega is faster than Volta!!oneoneleven.

And so on. But sarcastically it is used as a false sign of enthusiasm.

As you can probably tell from my other posts, I am expecting Vega to do poorly, hence my joke of sarcastic enthusiasm. Given how miserable you tend to be you should try it dude :D

I'm not miserable what gives you that idea. I tell it how i see it and as i have said i don't expect people to agree with me.

I don't expect Vega to bad but i just can't see how they can get in front this quick.

Hey i like Oscar there's nothing wrong with him :D If you want to compare me to Oscar that's fine, I have said in other threads it's only words and words mean nothing to me, It's like water off a ducks back.

Same again i love a brand that you don't really like which is fine, but i just connect with this brand more than the others cause they give me what i want and that's why i support them.

And i compare everything to them which IMO there's nothing wrong with that.

Yeah must be. Always loved how EVGA's stuff looked tbh. I even went so far as saying that Sapphire were becoming AMD's EVGA - high praise indeed.

Yeah i'm thinking the same about Sapphire but TBH i have never really been a fan of AMD GPU, Always been a Nvidia person expect for 3 times and those 3 times i brought an ATi/AMD GPU i have never been happy with AMD GPU.

Which i'm not an Nvidia fan boy, I'm a EVGA fan boy there is a difference.....

A friend of mine (yes i do have friends) believe or not he told me he wishes that EVGA made a AMD motherboard i told him that's never going to happen.

TBH AMD needs to get people like me to switch from intel to AMD but it's never going to happen.

It would only happen if they had a product so good that you would be a complete fool to buy anything else. Kinda like the 5000 series cards. However, even that wasn't enough and people still stupidly bought the GTX 260.

AMD can lead a horse to water... etc.

Having said that I do feel that enthusiasts will buy the better product. As such AMD haven't really made anything worth having since the 290. I mean yeah it was hot etc but it was soo much cheaper than Titan.

HBM2 may be cheaper to produce in itself but it still needs to be cut "connected" to the core. So if there's a problem with either you lose both. That was why they could not undercut the 980ti and had to sell the FX at the same price. I bet they wanted higher too, but Nvidia had already beaten them to market (AGAIN).

All of this cost is passed onto us. People who don't need HBM and would be perfectly happy with a fast GPU with GDDR5X on it.

Even if this card is for 4k only? the marketshare for 4k is tiny. And most of those who do use 4k don't use it for gaming.

Until AMD get themselves out of dreamland and start making products we can actually use that are worth the money? they've had it. They've had it because of companies like Nvidia, who are already beating them. People don't go "Awww, look at AMD losing I think I will fit an AMD GPU to all of my PCs !" they go "More crap" and go out and buy Nvidia.

The only GPU capable of 4k alone right now is the TXP. So as I said, unless Vega is as fast or faster? you don't need that HBM. Because the Titan X doesn't have it, and you don't need it.

I've already fallen for the HBM routine. Won't be falling for it again. I now have a card with 4gb VRAM. Games don't go "uhoh lookout here comes HBM !" they go "4gb? lulz".

Can we categorically prove that HBM2 won't benefit the Vega architecture in a meaningful way? If we can and I'm simply unaware of it, I do apologise. But if we can't prove it, which might be hard as we'd have to theoretically replace the HBM2 with GDDR5X on the same GPU core, how can you say categorically that we don't need HBM? We don't need GDDR5X as 1070 SLI is enough for 4K. But it's still a benefit to the 1080 and Titan XP. Is there a conclusive memory bandwidth bottleneck that's been tested by the likes of PCPer or Anandtech? Again, I apologise if there is and I can't find it/haven't read it.

HBM on the Fury line was a waste. We know that. But wasn't the use of HBM a preemptive move by AMD to ensure that HBM2 was their primary memory source and would allow them to produce a superior technology at a cheaper price later down the line? Can AMD and their silicon manufacturers produce HBM2 for the same price as GDDR5X? I'm not asking for your opinion there; I'm asking for definitive numbers, if there are any or if you can find any.
