I think AMD will wipe Nvidia with these using hbm2 given the initial results thus far for nvidia and gddr5x

October? That's awesome. I thought it would be Jan 2017 at the earliest, so this is great news. They really needed it. If I only have to wait until October, nVidia can keep their 1080's and Ti's. :p

Nvidia is already using HBM2 with Tesla. Anything AMD does, Nvidia has already done it better. Like they always do. All this announcement means is Nvidia will drop their Pascal Titan and 1080Ti at the same time. Full size P100 chips have been in production for over a year already.

I'm not supper impressed with the Nvidia 1080 cards regarding dx12 support. AMD already have great dx12 support so they can only improve on that and i think AMD might win this time around. The nvidia 1080 doesnm't even improve in dx12 but only time will tell. My reason for leaning towards AMD now is the fact that like I said better dx12 support and freesync panels is cheaper than Gsync panels.

Aye and full fat HBM2 for full fat wallets, these cards are going to be pricey as hell.

Well I'd say as much as the fury x now. Otherwise it won't sell. HBM2 prices should fall by then. 14nm prices should also lower slightly, that should help balance the costs of HBM2 as well. Then again it all depends on its performance.

Lol this guy
They've been in production for less than a year first off. HBM2 didn't even start until end of last year, so it would be impossible for them to have all those chips ready over a year ago. In addition, volume production for the P100 is very limited right now. Hence why only the very biggest companies with deep pockets are getting them first. At least troll better dude. No need to start bashing AMD for the sake of it. We need them in this market, no one else can compete

Polaris hopefully is successful enough to carry them over until Vega. We need competition in this market. Otherwise the way Nvidia operates, it'll be nearly impossible for any other company to get into this market with all there IP they push

Now that I think about it.. Wonder if this means Navi will get pushed closer to us. I can't expect them not to release anything for a whole year? I'm sure Nvidia plan on at least a rebadge/refresh. AMD would need to do the same. Maybe just update the memory to 5x or HBM2 for Polaris and get higher clocked HBM2 for Vega??

The fact that nVidia hardly said a word about DX12 performance last Friday definitely makes me suspicious of their performance claims. Not everybody is running VR.

This is a nice surprise! Vincent Vega's in the house? Awesome.

Yeah this will be the Fury/X replacement I'm assuming? The 1080's performance improvements seem to be predominantly efficiency related - that is higher clocks for the same power/temps and more memory.

I imagine Polaris will be the same in regards to the 390/x. Nice improvements but yeah Vega/Fat Pascal will be the must haves. I better start saving.

I hope it does mean the 1080Ti is brought forward or they're priced competively then. Can't wait to see how they go head to head.

I think until HBM becomes mainstream (or should we say if it becomes mainstream?) we're gonna continue to see that premium.

I think I'll stick with my R9 Fury for another couple of years before I look at moving on up. ..Long as I can do 1440P/1080p 60fps I'm happy lol

I'm happy with the same setup as well, but by October I'll have had the Fury for a year, and that's how often I upgrade GPU's usually. If Vega 10 is as powerful as 980 SLI, just like the 1080 supposedly is, that will be enough for me. I didn't buy the Fury X because I didn't think it was worth the extra money or the annoying AIO, so if AMD do the same thing again—€700 price tag with a water cooler—I may just stick again with the 'high-end' €600 GPU. I won't scoff at 980 SLI performance. That's almost Pro Duo level.
