AMD Vega GPU architectural upgrades revealed

Well i'm looking forwards to the new AMD 490 or whatever there called , hopefully it will be able to replace my two gtx 980 tis , i just hope it has the power for 1440p gaming and also then i will be able to use freesync that my monitor has. :)
It been a bad year for sli so i'm done with dual cards and the massive price cost that come with it .
My next upgrade will be the first time i will have a single card setup in many years .
 
I want a MSI lightning version. But I fear MSI would screw it up nowadays...
But I'll take sapphire too. Good stuff they've been doing for a while
 
Sapphire would probably be my choice , last time i had a AMD card was a sapphire hd 5870 toxic and it was a cracking good card , so hopefully this will be my next fingers crossed .

I'm still rocking a R9 290X Vapor X and its still a very strong card :)
 
I'd could say I'm going to give someone else a chance and not go full Asus this time, but I know it would most lightly be a lie
 
What I am interested in finding out is how much AMD has improved their performance per clock.

Right now AMD can deliver more TFLOPs than Nvidia, but they really need to get that to translate into more gaming performance.

Initial performance for the 480 disappointed a little but has improved to match or beat a 1060. That's very impressive. I imagine Vega will be the same. I'm going to keep an optimistic eye on the months after Vega's release.

That's because there architecture is better suited for compute/mathematical tasks which is why they have better TFLOPs. Which is why in DX12 and Vulkan/opencl(when it was around) they perform much better. For gaming it's a useless measurement. It's more telling what it can do versus what it should do in regards to performance. As more than just grunt power is needed for gaming apps, like instructions per clock, geometry calculations per clock, color/memory compression, etc.
