Could be a futile release what with Intel kicking it up a notch but then again AMD's prime directive is all about going places no one has gone before...

You jokes, no?

AMD slaughtered Intel on server price per performance dude. You could build a quad CPU 64 core monster for the same as Intel were charging for their top end Xeon.

The Opteron was a saviour for AMD. You need to remember, in server land threads are like air. You can utilise all of them so the more the merrier. And AMD always offered fantastic value for money. Good bit was that in the past some of them made fantastic desktop CPUs. I *think* it was the 140? that you could OC from 1.6ghz to 3ghz ! 85%+ overclocks dude.

This is what AMD have not had since forever. Bulldozer was poo, and would have made a poo server chip and they were stuck at 8c too.

Ryzen though? oh god, the mind boggles how good it could work out to be in serverland.

In regards to the 7nm production, production ramps up early Q1 for Global foundries. It's possible for it to launch in 2018
