AMD reportedly plans to launch Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs at CES 2025

This can't be right, as if it is it'll be one of the dumbest mistakes of all time by AMD amoungst a series of dumb mistakes, they'd be better off shooting themselves!

To be fair they launched their 7000 series in September 2022 and then their 7000X3D's in January 2023 so it's roughly the same time frame.

Yeah that's true buddy but last time they didn't have a flop CPU launch with 3% uplift in games, the need to get in front of it a restore peoples enthusiasm with better performance sooner rather than later.

True, They need to come in at decent prices otherwise people will start looking at Intels new Arrow-Lake which according to "leaks" is looking really fast.

TBH I hope Intel's next gen is really good as it's the only way we the consumers win, with credible competition!

Speed isn't everything if it needs a nuclear reactor to power it and LN2 to cool it though...

If Intel's history is anything to go by it'll still consume a massive amount of power. One would think the new E cores would help lower power consumption...

Yup... I mean, I'm no fanboy by any means. I just give credit where credit is due and get whatever product is best suited for me at the end of the day.

With this said, one can not deny the improvements that AMD has done when it comes to efficiency. Like the 7800X3D is an real beast, consumes around 80W, yet gives top level gaming performance and all round in other tasks.

It is quite impressive what AMD has done for efficiency. I haven't checked Zen 5 but previous Zens have roughly been around the 2W per core(when not maxed out). Obviously for their consumer chips it's higher as they clock them much higher than say thread ripper or Epyc class chips.

If Intel could reduce by 25%, that combined with the heat being produced I feel would make them extremely enticing as gaming chips in comparison to x3d.

I don't think this is that bad of a business move. I mean, it might be necessary anyway. AMD has fast and efficient gaming CPUs out right now that are better than the competition. They may be past gen, but that doesn't really matter. Raptor Lake is an unknown at this point. I don't think AMD are in a dangerous position unless they can't fix the current issue with Windows.

(Not at you Angry, just general here)

I don't get why people get so tangled around something being "past gen", like what does that do? Does it make the thing suck more cause it's last gen? Like come on already... newer generations isn't always better and in more cases, doesn't offer a whole lot more over the last gen part anyway.
