While Trump may have hurt the prices, everything else is getting cheaper so really it evens out for us Americans, though I do not believe same can be said about Brexit and whatnot.

It's Brexit more than the US administration I would say, yeah. It's usually cheaper to buy from a German retailer now even when the GBP to EUR conversion rate is so in my favour. In years gone past if the rates were that in my favour, buying from the UK would be a no-brainer. But even with that, the UK is still prohibitively expensive because it was so weakened by Brexit.

My favourite forums have always been the ones where folks can take a tangent but not go toooooooooo far off. Like going for a walk and taking the offbeat track that's still in the right general direction of the mountain peak.

Its still relevant. Some people are not happy about the pricing. The political landscape between US and China may be a factor into that and why the VII is more expensive than hoped for.
My point to that was while it may cost more, for Americans everything else has either remained the same or gotten cheaper, so it evens out for us, but as Angry said, that is not the case for him and is a reason he is upset over the price.

It's a decent increase but it's just not good enough. I expected better. Now had they priced it at $600 instead of 700 that would had made a good difference for sure, but right now it seems to me that AMD is content on safely being no.2.

And what the heck is up with that cooler design?! It's certainly not winning any beauty contests and I have my doubts about its efficiency with much of the sides being closed off

given the very expensive tech like hbm 2 a massive die sizea super wide mem bus etc I think this card is priced so sharp amd won't be making money of it , however this is still same vega with a few sp turned off but a much better clock , this is only a showpiece for what amd is bringing with navi on 7 nm and it looks promising to me

Looks to be around 30% faster on average, A little under whelming, I may end up giving the V7 a miss and sticking to my Vega 64 for a little longer.

TBH, I'm looking forward to seeing how this overclocks. Will it be like the other Vega cards and respond stupidly well to undervolting?

This is actually AMDs smallest high end die since the HD4890, but presumably yields are far from great on 7nm so that won't do much to reduce cost *yet*, though yeah the HBM2 will still dog the price, though I think we could see it drop a fair bit towards the tail end of the year.

Given the heat density on this chip will be kinda insane & they've bumped clocks inline with the gains we expect from 7nm at the same power target I can't see it being an amazing overclocker, but yeah undervolting could have a monumental effect.
