Too right, these aren't really worth anything until we see pricing. I'll be in bed probably when the event goes live so I'll check tomorrow morning to see how competitive AMD intend Navi to be.

AMD really need to work on their naming schemes, It's all over the place.

I doubt we'll see anything higher than the Radeon 7 before 2020, AMD need customers to not get pi&&ed off and go over to Nvidia, If they released a Radeon 7 successor only a few months after launching it you can bet they will lose a lot of custom.

I don't think AMD will care nor consumers. Most people didn't buy it and most people will just be happy to have something competitive from AMD at this point.

Right, so how does an Radeon 7 stack up against an RTX 2080/2080 Ti and their older 1080 Ti (which I currently own). Wondering if an R7 is worth going for over my 1080 Ti or if I should just continue with it?...

It's very similar to your 1080 Ti and switching would be waste of money.
It has more VRAM but you probably won't see games eating whole 11Gb of 1080 Ti let alone 16 in their usable lifespan.
The stock cooler is also absolutely useless on the VII and you need plenty of tweaking in to get it run right.

The first game was AMD branded, the other two were Nvidia. IIRC. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is definitely Nvidia partnered.

It would be silly for them not to release something higher end than the VII. To release a whole new line and not have anything out perform your older products is absolutely silly. Not to mention, how many years has nVidia been launching a higher performing card not more than 6 months after their previous "best ever" card was released, and that doesnt seem to hurt them too bad. Sure, vocal people complain and condemn them for it, but they still sell like hotcakes.
It doesn't seem like there will be a 64CU version of this first gen RDNA, seems like they're waiting for the arch to mature a little more, gain raytracing features, then launch its 2nd gen as a big 64cu part sometime before the next gen consoles. I'd think 6 months would be the minimum time scale we're talking there but likely abit more I'd say.
AMD have precedent with launching their top end lines completely staggered and seperately from their mainstream parts and it doesn't seem like that's changing, this is Polaris in configuration across the board.
