Hang on a minute.

Two separate news articles with slightly conflicting information.

This slide shows an average of 54fps in 4K ultra with Far Cry 4:

And the other news article has the same Far Cry 4 with an average of 45fps:

This disparity is calling bollocks on at least one set of results, if not both. Okay, the second set of results may not have been at ultra, don't know*. If anyone that has a 980ti, 4k monitor and these games could run the tests to see if the results are similar to the above, that might give some credence, but until then...

Don't get me wrong, I want to believe, I just don't - yet.

*edit - that would make the comparison worse!

Edit no.2: OC3D's own benchmarking of the 980ti shows Far Cry 4 at 4k at an average of 51.4:

Again, don't know if that's at ultra, but if so the second chart posted up there is pure make-believe.

Edit No.3 :) - comparing these benchmarks is a bit nonsensical because we don't know what the rest of the system was; the cpu, ram motherboard etc, but none the less, would it have created such difference in results?

This is the problem with benchmarking games that don't have a set benchmark. It makes all reviews bs unless you can replicate the exact circumstances.

I just take all reviews and mash them together for a very rough idea of what to expect.

My guess is the system they used wouldn't create that much disparity considering they were running all of these benchmarks in 4k and wanted to show the Fury x in the best light.

It should be interesting to see exactly what we get 6 days from now - overclocks, unbiased benchmarks, etc...

I don't know why people are surprised it's faster? Even if it is leaks.. It's clearly aimed at the Titan X. The non x Fury on the other hand I would say is more aimed at the 980ti. That's how I view it at least. Depends on the non X Fury if it's cut down core or not.

Is it going to stomp everything? AMD have been doing things! I think we can forgive them the respin thing (although those 380x benchmarks were INSANE)

Regardless of leaks and benchmarks, the Fury does herald a new era for AMD and they should be applauded for their innovations in the market. The rebranding of 2**/3** not so, but they want to be seen as doing something.

Will the fact that the Fury may be faster than a 980ti affect my next gpu purchase? It already has, in as much as I've not bought 980tis yet. I think I just want to know the facts before committing to whatever gpus and ~sync monitor for the next year and a bit.

So... highly competitive with the 980 Ti and Titan X?

Nice stuff from AMD, hopefully they price it very aggressively too. I'd like to see HD4870 or 290X inspired price slashing from Nvidia once more. ^_^

Either way, I think I will hold off a month after launch. I think team green is probably holding a little back in the driver department, and you know they will release higher overclocked versions.

I am curious if we might get something like the GHZ editions from AMD after a few months. I can't wait to see what the OC headroom is going to be in these cards.

They already are clocked at 1ghz ^_^

FYI these benchmarks are "cherry picked results" from AMD marketing.

You should take these with a grain of salt until the actual reviews come in.

Cherry picked? I think you've lost the meaning there mate. Cherry picking is when you take one or two results and say that a product is better than another. It's hardly like AMD are doing that is it? there's 12 games there. One of which is Witcher 3 and a Nvidia Gameworks title and the AMD still wins.

Now sure, AMD could be exaggerating this but that's not cherry picking.

I dont see WHY all the fan boys trying to UP Nvidia (me having a 780 saying that) all the time. I sure HOPE that AMD can kick Nvidia of the top spots this time as the market NEEDS it and WE need it.

Why all the doubts? I would stay possitive and HOPE for the best from AMD as it would benefit us all in the long run. I wish that AMD Fury X would beat the Titan X AND be WAY more cheaper - just so Nvidia HAS to do something not to lose in the selling department.

Imagine a 450 euros Fury X!?

a Fury X for 450 euros, that would be insane but i would be sold though. Either way, i WILL be going team red this summer

Cherry picking numbers? Really? It's a leaked result... nothing being cherry picked.. Never seen anyone claim benchmarks being cherry picked, let alone in leaks. Lol^_^

Fury X won't be.. more likely the non X
