AMD Mantle Update for Battlefield 4 Might be delayed again - Pushed back to February

It looks like the AMD Mantle update for Battlefield 4 has been delayed again as developer DICE is continuing to focus on sorting out technical, gameplay and stability issues in the game.

The Mantle update for Battlefield 4 was initially scheduled for launch in November 2013, but was delayed to January 2014 as issues arose across all major gaming platforms which prompted an all out bug hunt delaying the development of all additional content.

Neither EA nor AMD have officially confirmed the delay.

According to a screenshot of a chat on Twitter with an EA technical support representative Ruben Santana, the patch was originally expected in November, will be delayed until some time in February given they have missed their release window of the week of January 20-24.

The conversation is pictured below;

It is a shame that EA and DICE have been unable to patch Mantle into Battlefield 4, if this trend continues the earliest Mantle game will not be Battlefield 4 but Eidos Montreal’s Thief, a game which will definitely launch next month with Mantle and TrueAudio support from the start.

Soon Mantle will be in reach, hopefully

'EDIT' By the looks like he rumor of the delay of the AMD Mantle patch has been debunked thanks to to our very own Sieb and Roy@AMD on twitter.

Just goes to show that when several sites post it doesn't mean that it's true.

EA ruins a great game series once again with its stupid crunch times and release dates. Betafield 4 is such a fail, how I long for the days of BF2 again....

On the bright side, I can't wait for thief! If its anything like Thief 2 or deadly shadows then it will certainly be good.

This is getting pathetic.
I hope this will lead some people to finally give up supporting that crappy franchise.

There is conflicting info going around at the moment, other sources including AMD are saying it's not delayed.

Also a post on the Battlelog forums saying they are aiming on releasing a patch the end of Jan beginning of Feb which if according to AMD it's not delayed then it should also include Mantle.

Either way, screw DICE. I'd rather see SquareEnix and Thief get bragging rights for the first game with Mantle rather than EA and DICE with BF4.

I guess we will know it's coming soon if AMD release a beta driver

I am really looking forward to thief, not just for mantle (that's a mere bonus).

It would be nice for DICE/EA to not get the "bragging rights" over the first mantle game because as far as i see it, they do not deserve it. They have continued to let down their customers again and again, I wish I had never bought BF4.

As far as i remember when the patch was initially delayed AMD stated that Mantle would release in Q1 2014, so I guess as far as they are concerned it isn't delayed.

AMD never said anything about Q1, they did anounce that the driver for Mantle would be coming by the end of January two to three weeks ago (maybe longer) though.
Mantle is in the hands of DICE and any delays have been due to them, this latest info about it being delayed until Feb has turned out to be not true. There is other info on other forums which I can't post.

Amen to that, Miss BF2 and BF2142, Loved those games :)

Yeah, did my checks and indeed you are correct, posted that just as i edited that Q1 nonsense out.

Of course it is DICE's problem, not AMD's. What I have been reading it may be released borderline Jan/Feb (end of the week) or early Feb.

If you have found anything more concrete, proving or disproving the delay, please let me know either here or via PM.

I'll just post it here, everyone has access to the same sites we do so the info is not hard to find.

but will the 40% boost to amd cards make the top end amd cards catch the 780ti (best card out there for now) :p

there won't be a 40% boost.
they said there was a 40% boost, they didn't say anything about averages or settings. so my guess is some lower end card had a framerate spike that boosted it 40% for a split second.
can't wait for the amount of bugs when nvidia feels like they need to make their own API, so developers have to deal with 3 different APIs.
i seriously hope mantle will be a failure or dx12 blows it out of the water, else you can get ready for even buggier games.

APIopocalypse! I wonder if Microsoft will buy mantle when its finished? I know that sounds a bit odd but lets be honest, AMD aren't normally the ones to develop their own software/API/stuff (or buy others) and if they can make it work really well they could bring in a large pool of cash for AMD's slowly dwindling reserves.

One API doesn't effect the other, a game will be more buggy on one and not all.
Game developers need to take their time instead of rushing crap out, that is why we get buggy games. Not because of extra things they have to do.

I love how people want to see something that is open standard that can make games even better, less demanding and improve performance across the board fail.

they'd need to fix the game on three different APIs, let's see how much more time they will take to do that, they can't even get it right on one API.
i want to see it fail because it will just stir up competition which is completely unnecessary and will only backfire on us. you know that the open standard thing is really just a PR stunt to make nvidia look like dicks.
