AMD is "putting the finishing touches on the 300 series"

It'll be ~5% faster than the 390x but cost £1000 which will apparently be worth it because of the power draw.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about power draw? If people are so worried about their electricity bill then perhaps its time to think about not spending £1000s on GPUs. Thermal performance is obviously important though. ;)

I do care about power draw, which is why my 780s are still at stock now. And the fact I won't upgrade them until they can't keep up anymore ;)

It doesn't always lead to extra noise. A good GPU cooler with a sweaty card will be quieter than an 'efficient' card with a crappy/reference cooler.

Shame AMD did both then ;)

It doesn't always for sure but it does require a far more delicately engineered solution and within the restrictions of the PCI cooling format higher and higher TDP's is a problem. There will be a sacrifice somewhere.

Indeed. Its a shame my 780Ti runs at 82c ;).

I think that if even XFX, who were very good at forgetting to put stuff in their cards, like build quality, were able to make a two slot card that cools the 290/290x well then. Yeah I'm aware that there will be sacrifices but considering very few people are really restricted by card sizes its not that much of a problem.

why are some complaining about a 300W TDP? my GTX 770 does pull 280W while gaming and close to 300 in valley bench.
Overclocked ofc

I really really really really hope this is awesome. For everyone's sake.

I also hope it comes with a good reference cooler that spits the heat out of the back of the case. I might be on my own here but I don't like cards that look like transformer toys and dump heat into the case.

This year at some point I'll be looking to change up from my 780Ti's and get a pair of cards with serious power and enough VRAM so I can go 4k @60Hz. I would LOVE to give AMD my money but the product has to deliver. I had a pair of 7970's which were utter crap - hot, stuttery and buggy.

Where I live every little bit counts and energy is not cheap in England compared to places like Germany.

An example of this is in england I can have my TV on, My rig running, Fridge and a few lights on and use around £20 a week.

The same in the place I stay in Berlin I pay €40 a month for roughly the same usage so saving where I can is important especially when in crapland ;)
