The 470 was too expensive and too close to the 480 to make it worthwhile. I can see why they did it too, it's an Nvidia tactic. Make one card suck and the other seem cheap, railroad....

Even if they didn't release it, 470 barely costs more and is much faster.

The 470 starts at £180 in the UK. That's £40 more, a massive difference if you are on a budget. And that's the loud hot AMD stock card.

Cheapest card $189. So that's a $50 disparity, hardly "barely" is it? it's like 25-30% more.

Still not much. Aftermarket cards and Etailers will hike prices up. They've done that for every card released so far. Either way you look at it, these cheaper versions will costs the same and more than likely still outperform
