AMD Hawaii showcase

If your looking to buy one, you could always buy two and give me one. :D

If it's re-branded I'm not bothered, as long as it performs well for a good price then I'm happy. I just need A graphics card.

im only buying one this time, dont have the room to crossfire ;) besides i wanna smash up some bitches on Battlefield ive never played it and the entire human race seems hyped about it, i want in!

the 290 is a new gpu and apparently 280 is the 7970 rebrand

if we can order them on the 3rd, means Tom and other reviewers would probably already have them

I'm going to end up with a GeForce 2 at this rate. You've never played BF MrKambo!? Where have you been!?

Could let you know when I am getting rid of my 7870 tahiti if you like bud (apologies if I am breaking rules here)

i work too much to invest time in games like that, besides you guys play in the evening im half way through my shift at this point, so never bothered getting into it

Could you Tripp? I'd appreciate it.

I was looking at getting a 780, but £550 is to steep now really, and this is only going to be for BF4, so it would be stupid of me to spend a fortune.

Apparently they don't need the connectors any more and it can be done through the PCI-E lanes.

I read something about it only working on PCI-E 3 though.

That would be weird as AMD CPUs don't support PCI-E Gen 3.0 at this point in time and it would exclude people on older platforms. It's not like it dramatically increases the looks of the card.

(Honestly I think this cooler design looks a bit tacky anyway, but that may just be me).

Its reference. Believe me when I say that most manufacturers will have nicer and better performing coolers at launch
I've never seen a reference cooler, beside the GTX Titan one, that I liked.

I'm not 100% sure on all the details, I had a quick read about the 290x on various sites and remember reading about it. Maybe it will work on PCI E 2 as well, not sure.

I don't like the cooler either, it's all about the after market ones for me though. The DCUII, TwinFrz and Windforce etc.

From what I had heard the card didn't have the x-fire fingers as it was only a demo card if you look at the pcb you can see where it would got on it at least it looked like soldering points to me

The R9 290X is also supposed to light up (red stripes on the cooler shroud), atleast that is what linus said in his video after he saw the card running.
