AMD still retains the cooler compatibility with older generations, again!!

Also... wooooooow that's kind of THE audible difference

I'd be honored if they named a cooler after me. Unfortunately **** probably wouldn't be appropriate. (C word)

Whooo hooo! I'm gonna be rich I tells thee, some ones getting sued! Plus it'll never be as cool as me

EDIT: Thought so, very much the same cooler they bundled with the Athlon 64 X2 6000+.

lol
As for the cooler, £10 says it is the exact same with a 7v resistor in the shroud. Considering they are attempting to half their TDP it would make sense.

Let's hope that this change in CPU cooler design has not been prompted by how hot their new Zen CPU cores run as we certainly do not want another Volcano CPU from AMD, especially given how cool Intel CPUs run these days.

Or this push could be due to the TDP improvements made in Zen. A new, more efficient cooler could be the perfect compliment to this. Just so AMD can boast to OEMs in order to get some new partnership deals, or even just the publicity such an improvement would bring.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

I wonder if it will be worth picking up for a vishera chip over a 212 evo for $40 cad

Honestly depends on the price of these coolers on the retail market. If they're even going to be available for a while.

212 is a very nice cooler and I would highly recommend it. It is excellent value for money.
No cooler designed to be shipped with a processor will out-class anything but the super-cheap aftermarket coolers.

intel CPUs run cool? Would you say that about haswell? not familiar with skylake but from my experience intel CPUs are hotter than AMD nowadays
