This happens every so often. The big sign of a change is going to depend on how well Nvida planned for DX12 and corrected some of the short falls we are starting to see pop up. Also a lot of costumers are starting to dislike Nvidia's priority Gameworks software and some of the business practices that result from that. It's going to be an interesting summer.

It still amazes me how many people bought a 970/980 over the 290/290X/390/390X, nVidia are just on point when it comes to marketing and reputation, AMD need far more than just a good product to make a comeback.

I got my 970 brand new for cheaper than a 390 at the time sold it and got a 980 second hand for an extra 40 euro in the end I have a 980 that cost me 370 euro, easy choice for me but if I was buying new today I'd go 390

It'd be interesting to see a study of used component demand too. Seems like prices don't drop a whole lot with single generation gaps. Just sold my 290x for $25 USD less than I bought it for new, reinvested in a Fury. Influences like gaming packages would be interesting in a study too. The AMD rewards tiers were great compared to the pared down versions of rewards now. The single release freebie seems a lot more polarizing. Past more 'hardcore' enthusiasts,I wonder how much vendor and AIB brand loyalty there is in more mainstream gamers, even with big end rigs, I would wager there are plenty of people looking for a specific level of performance at a price point, caring less about green red or blue.

A lot comes back to the old drivers are rubbish myth. Ask anyone on any forum or any group about GPU's and chances are most of the (misinformed) comments will be AMD drivers are garbage, or AMD will run hotter than the sun. All stuff from generations ago. Word of mouth and a bad rep is a hard one to beat no matter how large your marketing budget is or how good the current products are. Glad to see some positive growth though.

But aren't there behind to what they were 12 months ago % wise, That is what it look like to me when i looked at the graphs.

So really they have lost ground to where they were 12 months ago.

It's a table actually;)
The graph doesn't really apply to market share, just sales on enthusiasts AIBs:p

And no they are gaining ground. From last quarter to this one they are gaining market share. That's what the article focused on.

That doesn't look like it to me

Market Share this Quarter is 21.1%, Market Share last Quarter 18.8%, Market Share Last Year 24.0%.

Tell me how they are gaining share when you look at that, Looks like to me they lost share.

It does say in the article that they were 2.9% worse than last year.

It also states that they've increased their market share over the last quarter which is the main subject of the article hence the heading.

You even math bro?:p In terms of shares of this quarter - last quarter, 21.1%-18.8%= 2.3%. So they gained 2.3% market share this quarter. Which again is what the article is referencing:)

But in other words.. this^^^

No i don't Math

Maybe true but to me it still looks like to lost Market Share, There still behind to were they were last year

Look at the picture where it said Market Share Last Year it is about the year too.

From the article:
When compared to the same quarter last year AMD's market share has decreased by 2.9%, but when compared to last quarter we can see that AMD's market share has increased by 1.3%

Meaning that if they keep increasing by the end of this quarter they'll be at the same place-ish they were at previously (as they've had declining market share for ages).

Yes i know that and IMO i don't think Polaris is not going to shoot them back up into like 40 or 45% market share either, I think they will stay the same as the are now.

I sent my 970 Strix back because of the principal at the time then I got my 290X Vapor X for £275 and i've never regretted it. The card is awesome although i'm gonna replace the TIM very soon :)
