one card for starters. A 280x/770 does 1080p easily. I'd say get a 280x as well as it has more vram.

I would go for a Sapphire R9 290/290X if you are thinking of just using one screen as you wont see any benefit from having crossfire.

The fx8350 is a good chip I have one @4.4ghz but I am restricted by my 6-2Phase motherboard.

I have the 8320 which I have got to 4.4 ghz on a Asus Sabertooth motherboard I did have the 8350 but I broke some pins on it "that will teach me to put new ram in with a hangover lol broke the pins removing my Noctua DH-14 to fit the ram" I got the 8350 to 4.8 stable also Overclockers.co.uk have the 8350 for sale at £116.99 hope it helps
