hello all,

im about to buy and amd 8150.

this pc is for one objective only, virtual machine support.

i am not looking for gaming power!

does this cpu hold out on the virtual machine level. i am going to be running a develpment enviroment

at home so i need to run at least 3-4 virtual machines.

the hardware will hold up 16 gb ram.

this is a financial claculation.

thank you in advance.

What will the guest VMs be running? What virtualization software will you be using?

vms will be rubbing what ever server function i want them too, for example. exchange, sharepoint, file, dc, citrix application. etc....

does the server type make a diference.

i would buy a server for this but funds are a problem at the moment

i am a dev. what do you want to achieve?

i use Oracle VM VirtualBox, for debugging device drivers, along with VisualDDK.

why so many VMs?

stiil need to know if fx 8150 can carry the load.

thank you in advance for any information.

For messing around you will be fine. For production of course I'd look for server level hardware.

Hyper-v works, but I prefer VMWare ESXi. I run both at work. Either can be downloaded for free.
