AMD's upcoming Fiji GPU will feature 2.5D High Bandwidth Memory. AMD is planning a presentation during the 'Hot-Chips' Symposium in August, and the title caught our attention.

We already knew it was going to use HBM memory. It was confirmed back in Feb by AMD engineers. 2 engineers in fact.

Not really considering its a about the memory itself and not the performance of the gpu. As it is the first, its technically the fastest ;)

Mind=Blown^_^

I mean, if it's supposed to be faster than GDDR5, I'm very curious to see if that has an impact in real-world performance (anything your average consumer would do gaming or GPU acceleration related).
I'm not brand loyal, so if it turns out AMD's new lineup is worth the money, that may be where I'm headed next.

Well based off what info is available it is architecturally faster. It's just a question of how game engines and software devs take advantage of it. I feel it'll only help when hitting 4k and extreme heavy intensive memory tasks. It should get better and better as engines and devs figure out more ways to use the speed and reduced latency.
