Good news, maybe now we can finally see some competition if they price it right which will see an overall fall in prices for both companies even among some of the cheaper processors.

I'm probably still gonna wait til amd fusion comes out, but it's nice to see amd trying to remedy the 1st gen phenoms

Maybe AMD are trying to get it out first so that everyone buys their octo-core, thus stealing back a small amount of market share? If these are anything like the current intel / amd offerings, then I won't be surprised by this move, as AMD probably already know that the Intel architecture is better

Oh this is fantastic I knew once the merger settled down and they could get back on track that they would start getting their act together, I cant wait to see more of this when it develops, with Intel going from Quad to Hexcore instead of octal this may give AMD time to catchup or even release their quad during Intel Hex release would could give them a lead for at least a little while. Cant wait to see how this unfolds.
