AMD confirms that Windows 10 does not have a Ryzen scheduling bug

Ryzen temps 20c lower on 1700x and 1800x!

AMD have confirmed that both the 1700x and 1800x have a 20c temp offset. They run 20c cooler than the reported temps.

This would explain why Tom couldn't see so much heat haze rising from the cooler in the review.

Does this mean they can be overcooked higher than 4.1Ghz now?!

Depends on how many extra . of volts you could put in aslong as you can get rid of the heat i suppose. But wendell has managed to get 4.3 ghz on a taichi board whilst on linux. Having the ability to remove that fan offset, of which i have no idea why we have it will be key though, and on a bios level.

But dont just think about the speed of a ryzen through its pure ipc, there is something emerging with these chips that the infinity fabric is actually varied by ram speed, so the faster the ram the faster the cpu works internally via the infinity fabric working faster.

So thats something to keep an eye on, and also something in that, it turns out that whilst the shed isnt off in seeing the cpu, its still doesnt see it as a 2 cpu system, well it does and it doesnt but long story. If they can make the shed stop randomly jumping work and if they can make games not try and put work on cores that are related on the different blocks then we should see a good inprovment in game performance.

They also need to figure out what it is about windows 7 that makes ryzen so much faster in it than on windows 10.

It is not faster in W7. MS doesn't even support Ryzen in 7.

Who said anything about faster, its the same speed, it just runs games better. And ryzen does work on win 7, you just have tobe dodgy to get the thing to fire up. Look on youtube how to get ryzen to work on win 7.

Where its running faster at the mo is on linux with wendell from level1tech getting his to 4.3.

You quite literally contractided yourself immediately.

How do you figure that out exactly, we know that ryzen is being impacted by the os, amd acknowledge this. Amd also in there own statement which if you had read pointed out that ryzen does infact run on win 7.

So it is something in win 7 that stops some of the shenanigans in win 10 that is holding ryzen gaming performance back.

Edit ow i see, im referring to faster before as faster game performance then faster ipc, yup. wires crossed as i thought you were referring to faster cpu as in clocks.

If I am going to support lying sleazebags, then I might as well go with the best, Intel and nvidia.

Aka supporting the best, biggest sleazebags in the business, need I remind you of the whole Intel dodgy deals when the P4 couldn't compete against Athlon? Or how Nvidia said the GTX 970 had 4GB GDDR5 when it actually had 3.5GB GDDR5?
