AMD Catalyst 14.1 delayed due to a last minute bug

Not impressed with mantle's cpu usage... I hope they'll start to make use of more cores soon. IT was still better than the dx11 version though.

apart from that 27 fps average to 43 fps average on star swarm :)

I did however read somewhere that due to MP being more CPU intensive that it would show a higher increase in performance, like you said we can't use this as solid results because the test isn't deterministic but it would be interesting to throw a few numbers out there for a comparison.

We definitely need more numbers to get a better picture of performance. As much as I tried to keep each round the same as each other there were still things that made them different.

For me and others with decent CPUs the performance increase isn't going be that big, but people with lower end CPUs should see bigger gains.

That is a pretty good gain under Mantle, his FPS hardly dropped at all under Mantle.

Of course good ol' OBS plays ball with mantle. ^_^

As someone with a mid-low cpu, I did see quite an improvement. Its slowly getting there with core usage. I imagine it'll mean that I don't need to go i7 6 core for Star Citizen though. Not sure if that makes me happy or sad :(

Fraps doesnt work with mantel how did you guys record your FPS with Mantel enabled?

Hit this key in game
ee2p1AH.png
to bring up the console and enter 'PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1' (same key to close the console) your fps will be displyed in the right corner.

Did anyone care to read the Highlights & Details section.. There is NO CPU support yet only some APUs & some GPUs, even the Radeon guy on Twitter has said Mantle will not work correctly with any of the FX series "Yet" :( I guess it's just more and more waiting to give the API a real benchy blast.

Edit:
Mantle Beta driver
AMD's Mantle is a groundbreaking graphics API that promises to transform the world of game development to help bring better, faster games to the PC
Performance gain of up to 45%(versus the DirectX version) for Battlefield 4 on the R9 290 Series
Performance gain of up to 200% (versus the DirectX version) for Star Swarm on the R9 290 Series
AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta must be used in conjunction with versions of these applications that support Mantle
It is expected that these applications will have future updates to support additional AMD Mantle features
AMD Mantle Beta driver is currently supported on:
AMD Radeon™ R9 Series GPUs
AMD Radeon™ R7 Series GPUs
AMD Radeon™ HD 7000 Series GPUs
AMD Radeon™ HD 8000 Series GPUs
AMD A10-7000 Series and AMD A8-7000 Series APUs
For additional details please see the AMD Mantle Technology FAQ on amd.com

Yet I still got a bit of a frameboost . Can't complain I guess. GG AMD for not working on your own CPU support.

TBF Mantle on Dice's end is not entirely making full use of Mantle either along with AMD getting the beta driver out.. give it some time.

Has anyone found a program that records Mantle gameplay?

I've tried Bandicam, OBS and Afterburner but non of them are working for me.

Yeah mantle on BF4 is a port, and even then it is a port on to a beta API.

AMD themselves have said that there are not any optimizations made for most mantle supported GPUs yet (7000 series and their rebrands), and that they will come with future releases of their catalyst drivers.

In the future we should see more of what this API can really do, when a dev has been working with it from the early stages of making a game. That being said DICE has shown us that significant gains can be made from lower end/mid-range CPUs (I will need to play some more BF4 before i can quote any of my own number though)

For Star Swarm I gained a 92.7% performance gain on the Follow scenario by using Mantle with my 1090t, a mind-blowing performance gain

Already totally cleaned out my old drivers all the time with DDU and it crashes the game for me using the 14.1 and cant get through a game so I need to wait it seems

Unlucky, the 7000 series isn't fully supported yet so that's probably what is causing your crashes.
Seems a few people are getting crashes and memory leaks from reading around different places.

Hopefully they get another driver up soon that will work good for everyone :)

Yes there does seem to be a few problems, but I knew before hand that it might not work so I'm not really all that worried as I'm sure it wont take AMD long to support all the available chipsets with their Mantle driver.
I do think it's going to be very good though when the full proper drivers come out and we get to enjoy Mantle in it's full glory.
