AMD ''Bulldozer'' Roadmap Shows 2Q 2011 Launch

Are the next chips after that gonna be the "Orochi" and "Interlagos". With the Interlagos using a new socket and around 12 or 16 cores. Well that's what I have heard anyway. But yeah im looking forward to these new processors, also how much they will be. The way I see AMD price things I expect the Interlagos, if it is 16 cores that is, it should be around £480 for the Black Edition version. As it seems that AMD price each core for £30. But then again price varies from retailer to retailer. I just suspect a higher price as they probably want something like the i7 980x that we have today

I'm also interested in this idea of a APU.

Could be good these. Hopefully with all of the coin AMD have made from ATI they will start knocking out killer CPUs again.

Or rather cpu sales countering gpus, considering the scale of their business.

I really wish AMD would counter Intel with something that only they can do. Something that works as a massive boost if you have both an AMD gpu & cpu.

Worried me a bit looking at certain financial blogs : http://blogs.barrons.com/techtraderdaily/2010/11/17/amd-jmp-cuts-rating/

You would wouldn't you.

I ranted on the old oc3d forums, perhaps there's a copy here, that AMD whilst purchasing ATi, had really enough clout to produce a complete pc - or atleast "system" in their own right. A console even.

With all their knowledge now well and truly in-house, between the gpu and cpu, they must be able to find some sort of edge as opposed to taking image quality settings down in drivers to keep up with the competition and relying on hertz.

They could surely produce something along the lines of a console's single flat pcb where they could weld the lanes from the gpu/cpu/memory directly to each other, throw in some tech that neither Intel or nVidia use.

Bulldozer desktop CPUs will top out at 8-cores initially. I've read about the possibility of 10 core Bulldozer for desktop later on though, can't remember where but probably read it over at AMDZone.

Interlagos is the codename for server Bulldozer, the 16-core model will use MCM like current Magny Cours, so it'd be 2 X 8-core dies communicating through a HT link on package

For your average user that many cores is just silly.

Hell even four cores have just begun to be useful for us gamers.
