AMD 'Bulldozer' gets an Update from Microsoft

Dont express opinions RARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

everything about this mystical patch is surrounded by hope of a successful moment from AMD.

They will NOT be a miracle patch that will save AMD from the hole they have dug out themselves.

End of the day, AMD are really out of there zone and need to go back to there roots and decide on what will lead them to a competitive standpoint in todays market.

Currently if i see anything AMD, apart from there graphics range i simply skip.

I don't honestly know why we're all still going on about this. The bottom line is that the first AMD chip of a new architecture is always crap! Trust me, I'm typing this on a Phenom 9650. I really lost out on this chip, because I didn't research, and I've had no easy upgrade path.

AMD ballsed these chips up, mainly on prices and over-hyping, but I still think they have an interesting architecture in Bulldozer. Now we know that MS is planning to show them to windows as quad cores with parallel hyperthreading now, what remains to be seen is how much advantage there is in that over Intel's "serial" hyperthreading.

If they don't bottle it because they lost this round, then the next batch of die-shrunk "Piledriver" based chips should be decent performers.

In layman's terms: AMD screwed up, but they have a good expandable platform for the future, should they continue to develop it.

AMD have their APUs and that's about it. You can actually squeeze a lot of performance out of them. You can get E350s to 2Ghz on the integrated 80 radeon cores and the CPU to 2.45Ghz from 1.6Ghz stock http://en.ocworkbench.com/tech/amd-brazos-e350-embedded-graphics-is-overclockable-to-2ghz/ . But as for anything higher end than that, AMD need to and have been bludgeoned back to the drawing board. As for Intel, they will only remain big for as long as Windows exists.

ARM fanboys soon

Hehe, can't wait to see ARM based chips for desktops

intels are in macs too, and if it wasnt for issues, amd would also be in macs

intels for me, except in macs, have always been unreliable, so im sticking with what i know, my main pc is going to be bulldozer, ...

AMD do need to look to the past, look what made athlon 64 so sucessful, and learn from it.

Try telling that to their CEO. Silly men jibbering away in suits are annoying.

I agree, I get a lot of gripe for having my Athlon 640 II x4 on my crosshair v, but the fact is it's a great chip with plenty enough juice for me xD
