AMD Barcelona - some official details

I think they should think less of trading blows with c2d and more about trading with Intel`s stuff that may arrive just after Barcelona.

The other thing about the server chips, I mean it`s all well and good, and u can talk a suit into buying them for the reasons they outline. Very "pc", but I feel the average suit doesn`t care that much. I may be wrong, and they may be forced to think more about it via stoopid "green" edicts, and that woman in hr.

The oc`er, they`re gonna disable as much of the controlling stuff as possible (all if possible) and run it at max.

I`d love to see which OS reacts well to cpu (cores) going off and on. I kinda think off might be really low clock speed.

Aw8ing Kemp to get one tbh, get a valued realtime opinion outside of the buzz.

It looks pretty impressive on paper, can't wait to see how it compares to Intel's offerings.

PS I love the Chuck Roundhouse screenie. "Stepping: onyorface" :rollingla

Well actually your average man in a suit takes all this stuff into consideration mate. Trust me I know several people who handle (many) multi-multi-million pound datacentres and they think about all this stuff

Virtualisation is key in todays market too, my work has about 100 virtual servers in the live environment and thats not a full implentation

Agreed on the Intel next gen thing tho

I wouldn`t call that average tho m8, nor would I call billion pound datacenters that will not use these but I know will carry on with the existing Intel based kit.

EDIT: As far as Virtualisation is concerned, I think it is the key in todays market - and selling the idea of it. It`s a grand transition that many places will adopt and once implemented will hold alot of redundacy for them. That being said, no longer than it becomes the `norm`, something else will be sold to the industry.

Nah, someone else made a post (Mr. Smith I think) linking to someone else's, so Kemp just kept the thread and to post our (meaning OC3D meaning Kemp's) article

Lol yea but i dont understand why im the thread poster and the first post. I guess he just linked it or something? I was gonna ask the same question myself.

I just moved the post and PP's post had an earlier date

@Rast - those are the "men in suits" that AMD wants to impress their business upon mate
