AMD announce their first Vega powered GPU accelerator

Fantastic name for a GPU. I hope they have something equally cool planned for the desktop variants :)

Yes. They are designed to go into servers with about 12 fans in the front and rear before and behind the GPU. A wind tunnel, basically. You could never have one in the same room as you.

Couple this with the leaked info on their engineering sample of the ZEN architecture with 32cores and 64 threads.... They could be back in business.

Comparing apples vs. oranges

Comparing a Vega to a Titan X (Pascal) makes no sense - compare it to an NVidia Tesla (Pascal), that's what it's designed to go up against.

Yup. Currently Intel only offer 24/48 IIRC so not only could this chip be as good in IPC terms they may also have beaten Intel to the core count.

It's clickbait. A news article. They will want to make people know how powerful Vega is in desktop terms.

It can actually make perfect sense if you think about. When you look at the titan X its an all around video card looking at providing good gaming support with the added bonus of being made for things that a quadro card can do. Its raw computing capabilities on for the Titan X have it beating things like the K6000, which is a $5,000+ video card for around $1,300. If AMD's new line up can actually give the Titan X a run for its money in terms of raw computing then they should see a HUGE increase in their overall market share in the business side of things. Infact this is already present by Google using these new GPU's to run some of their server farms.

As for the Pascal P10, the titan X is about 50% slower, for 1/5th the price.

That's an insane amount of power. Vega looks so promising. If Zen is a strong competitor at good pricing along with Vega being the monster everyone is saying it is. AMD will finally be able to compete in a 2 front war with Nvidia and Intel. Hopefully at least.. they can't continue to be strapped for resources against Intel, let alone them and Nvidia
