Hey guys,
Right so last weekend I bough a new MSI twin Frozr III R7950. I wanted it to be quiet and perform well, so I thought what better than an MSI card. After getting it setup I was not disappointing the card is almost silent at idle. But when put under load the card was very very loud indeed.
After running OCCT I realised that the fans on the card were spinning at 100%. But strangely the fans only seemed to really kick in once the card hit 56 - 57C. I made my own fan curve in Afterburner, thinking this would solve the issue, but this has had no effect. The card will follow my fan curve right until it hits 57C where it will max out both fans and actually not rise the temps above 57C.
The card came with an overclock on it, so my next move was to put everything back to stock to ensure it wasn't the voltage causing the problem. After returning everything to stock the problem still persisted. I noticed however that Afterburner was registering the fans on the card as spinning at 50%(or whatever I had set them at), when clearly below it says they're running at 4,500 rpm (100%).
At this point I'm completely out of idea's so any suggestions would be welcome.
