Am I having a bad Q6600 CPU?

Hey guys, I have a Q6600 Step G0 CPU with P5K Premium mobo and 2GB of GSkill DDR2-1066 RAM. Somehow, I couldn't OC it to 3.6GHZ stable. At 3.4GHz, Core#1 failed only 4 minutes into Prime95 test but rest of the cores passed 24hr test. I use a Zalman 9700 CPU fan and my temp isn't even 50C on CPU. Am I having a bad CPU or I am doing something wrong here?

The Vcore is at 1.34 right now at 3.4GHz. And even at 3.4GHz, my Core1 failed Prime95 test immediately. I tried to up the Vcore to 1.4 and didn't help the situation. It seems all other cores are working fine except this Core1, which is the one that always fails.

Is this a problem with mobo? As I have seen that most good overclocking for Q6600 is done on maximus, rampage or other super good mobos.

No, nothing wrong with your motherboard, P35s are very good overclockers if you're on a budget.

Up your CPU FSB overvolt such as PLL or VTT etc options by one notch in the BIOS and see if that helps ;)

Even my maximus, you have to overvolt VTT, NB and Pll :)
