Alright Boys and Girls!

A big hello to all the boys and girls of the OC3D community. I've been a big reader of the forums and an avid watcher of the OC3D and Rushkit videos and ultimately thats what bought me to register.

It all started about 6 months ago when i decided to take the plunge and build my own system instead of buying one. Ive always been a console gamer nut found it hard to justify spending £500 on something to get used once in a blue moon and i use my pc everyday, so i thought id give it a bash. i must admit it was way easier than i thought, but the thing i didnt count on was how easily ive caught "the bug" so to speak. my current rig was fairly budget (mainly because i thought id blow myself or the parts up) and its pretty a competent gaming machine.

So i will be bugging you all with many questions as my thirst for component knowledge is immense haha!!

anyway my build.

Bitfenix Prodigy
A10 6800k
gigabyte GA-F2A85XN-WIFI mobo
corsair vengeance LP 2133 8gb
corsair cx430m psu
hybrid hard drive 500gb
vtx 6850 graphics card
.... see i cant even remember if that's it

Finally a big thank you to TTL. the folks at OC3D towers and all the members on here. i honestly couldnt have done it without you! its unbelievable how much ive learnt from you all just by reading and watching without having to sift through pages on various sites with so much fanboy goings on that are loaded with misinformation.

Cheers Guys
Dave

Welcome to the forums mate :)

I think everyone finds it surprising how easy building a PC actually is (as long as there's no troubleshooting to do, that can sometimes be a pain). It's just like Lego for adults really :) Slot this in here, slot that in there, bish, bash, bosh and you've got a rig :)

I'd have gone for 1600 RAM and put the savings into a 6870 or 7850, but a pretty tidy budget rig there either way! :p PC building is lego for adults.

Welcome to the forum dude, and welcome to the Master Race (;

cheers guys , the reason i went for the 2133 was because it was £56 on amazon and the graphics card was off a mate for £35. the graphics card will be getting swapped out fairly soon so ill be quizzing you all on that haha!!

Hi urbangopher , Welcome to the forums.
Congrats on the build .
For me , getting a build put together was fairly easy , software and drivers was a little tougher.
But like you , I also have the bug to build another.

Thanks for the welcome guys! Much appreciated. It truly is Lego for adults, I really enjoyed the build and can't wait to do another later in the year. I've had a pop at overclocking and managed to get 4.7ghz off the CPU, the card was having none of it though and only managed 100mhz or so before it just kept turning off. Whether this be down to the old card or my PSU not being very beefy I don't know. But anyway it was fun, and I'm sure I'll learn more as time goes on off you guys!
