AHCI Controller Issue

Reviving this thread a bit.

The first thing that appears on my POST is the screen for the external SATA controller in IDE mode which lists my 2 drives.

This confused me.

I posted here earlier about forgetting to install Windows 7 in AHCI mode, but when I went to my mobo settings I saw that my board had set the integrated mode to AHCI anyway.

All is well, I thought. Since I don't have any drives connected to the external controller I thought I might as well disable it to speed up boot a tad more. However then I couldn't boot into Windows. Surely this would suggest I plugged my stuff in to the external controller? But that's impossible! The external controller is just the last few slots, I only have TWO drives, I plugged the SSD into the first native 6gbps slot, and the HDD into the first native 3gbs slot.

What's going on here? And if, for some reason, I am using the external controller...

Thanks.

I didn't get that message anyway so it looks like I'm fine

This article was written for people who tried to switch after installing windows and get an error. But by downloading the fix it will configure your system to use AHCI without having to re-install the OS. Anyway, glad to see that the bios recognized the SSD and automatically set the correct settings.
