AGP VDDQ warning!

Cooked my graphics card last night guys, I wasn’t overclocking the card that much + 30 on the core +30 on the memory or anything just after stability at a higher fsb. I was told by a guy that upping my agp vddq may help the clockablity of the card. I upped one notch which seemed to help my artifacting and the temps were fine after 1 hrs testing. I upped one more notch i think to 1.7 went and watched some tat for half an hour on the telly. When i came back the system had not booted but had completely hung (USB was still active). Now when I boot nothing comes up on screen and the post gets as far as initialising my disks then stops, I don’t get any bleep codes and Steven Hawkins female persona has stopped talking. Clearing cmos didn’t help so im thinking its the grfx! I will swap with an old g-force tonight just to make sure....

(edit) does any one have any of the springy screws that fit the stock HS on most 9800 XT's. I need to RMA the bitch and seem to have lost one... a non clcoker who can do without one maby...

ouch that sux, wen my R9800 died it did pretty much the same, cept i turned my monitor off, wen i turned it back on there was no display adn it had hung yet my USB still worked also, thing is at the time my AGP was runnin at stock 1.5V, and it wasnt overclocked much at all either.

Ive sent it back to the company i bought it from in the US whom are gonna send it back to ATi am gonna try get it RMA'd but not sure if they will as they may notice that the stock HSF has been removed, one cna hope tho

ouch....

i cant see why upping the vagpo voltage will kill your card...

i always run mine with 1.7V to increase the chipset voltage too...

i have removed my shim in my raddy 9800pro so even if i killed it i wouldnt be able to rma it...

I bought this card through scan.co.uk on the back of a big work order. I phoned them this morning and they have been really cool about it. I started of fabricating the usual lies but the guy on the phone kept asking "what did you clock it to". I was adamant that I hadn’t but he then said "look, ive just emailed u the rma form, now tell me what u clocked it to."

This approach to customers seems to advocate that they do not mind dealing with overclockers. Its strange ive always had trouble with the oc.co.uk rma procedure, but hang on aren’t they meant to support us? It seems that the market is getting wise to us though. It doesn’t take a genius to establish that a faction of the pc hardware buying population will spend ludicrous amounts of money upgrading their pc's on a month by month basis. With this demographic even a high %age of RMA's will not equate to lower profits. Would anyone ever consider some kind of special insurance for their pc stuff?

the RMAs come from old stock usually anyway which they need to get rid of to make room for new lines and RMA'ing with OC is a nightmare i must admit, i wont go into that here, tlak to you about it on MSN sometime perhaps?

I bought my card from an Ebay company i.e they sell goods using ebay so they dont need to have a shop etc. I bought it from these people as it was only £180 inc P+P and that was several months ago! The guys have been great help to me, I've sent the card back to them adn they are applying for the RMA for me. I told them I had removed the HSF and replaced it with a better one (but that I had now put the orig back on) and they said there shudnt be a problem as long as it isnt obvious, lets hope not becoz atm im running with a 8500 as im spending my money on CPU's and cooling atm

dunno i may just stick the shim back on...kill the card and then rma it to crucial....they may just send me a new one....but why take the chance if the shim has been removed me thinks
