Hi Guys first time in a forum so please be gentle haha
biggrin.gif

Ive purchased 2 agility 3 ssd's and ive put them in raid 0 but the problem is the speeds im getting are slower than a single agility 3. I have put these ssd's on the sata 6g/s ports and also changed the bios settings to RAID. I am very new to raid 0 and looked around at other peoples atto speed tests and they are getting 1gb a second speeds. Please see the below screen shots and dont forget this is a clean install of windows 7 ultimate 64.

Please please please help :S

regards Tom

just setting the bios to raid does not make them automatically raid together. There is a option during post to hit like ctrl I or the likes to set up the raid. there you select each drive for the raid set the type of raid and also the size and stripe size

I have set up the raid configuration already the same way as ttl's 'how to set up raid array on your motherboard' video. This thread is just about how slow these ssd'd are running.

I have installed the ssd's in the 6g/s slots on the motherboard but dont you think the ssd's should go faster than the screenshots ive posted

From my experience (literally first-hand) the SandForce Controller doesn't like Marvell SATA controllers AT ALL which is half the reason I opted to buy my current mobo. Not sure what your SATA controller is on your X58 system.

Also: are you running in AHCI mode?

I have no experience with raid but I'm sure the drives have to be running in RAID mode, which they are looking at the above comments.

most likely its the sandforce and marvel controller not playing nice. The OCZ ssd's are know for issues atm with marvell controllers. did you upgrade the firmware on the ssd's before you loaded windows on it?? supposedly it fixed some of the issues. also have you checked to make sure you have the latest raid drivers???

Yeah marvel is shocking, Id put money on it being controller problems. I bet if that was on a non sata3 controller in raid0 it would be faster.

Well unfortunatley the mobo has blown a chip so I am rma'ing it with ebuyer so when I get a replacement I will try the raid 0 on the sata 3g/s so thanks for the help guys.

Tom

I have the same board and yes the sata 6 port actually run slower than the sata 3.

I am on a quest to find a pcie to sata 6 raid card that costs less than a new z68 board.

I guess I was no help but at least you know you are no alone
