Advice on my OC

Hi

I ran a 2500xp barton CPU on 2 different boards, OC'ed to 3200 no problem. On my DFI Lanparty2 Ultra, however, it crashed after 15minutes or so of Prime95.

I changed the voltage from Auto (Running at around 1.6) to 1.7 and ran Prime95 again. It ran for 8hours30 till i just cancled it, no errors.

Was I right to change the voltage? I dont know much about OCing and that was my first voltage change, so i just wanna make sure it wont damage anything lol.

Thanks :)

Temps idle: 34

Load: 45

(Cpu fan @ 2000rpm)

If your board has the ability to bump up the voltage in small steps it might be worth trying something like 1.625v or 1.65v before going all the way up to 1.7v

But, yes, you was right to increase the voltage if you were getting stability issues.

I'll have a look if it can go up in smaller amounts now and see.

Even at 1.7, though, if i use my pc for just MSN/looking a tpictures or whatever, then iPrime95 will get errors...does this sound normal though, or should it be able to take a little use while it is running?

I've heard of people playing games while they run it to really push it :| lol

Oh, if its not even stable at 1.7v them there might be another issue.

Have you checked your memory voltage & timings?

TBH, i'm no AMD guru, so someone else might be able to assist better ;)

Its stable as such, i just dont think it cant take much more than prime95 running at once..having said that im tourture testing at the moment with a votlage of 1.675 and im doing this and it seems to be ok.

It never crashes out of prime either so it should be alright..lol :/

Either way, off to work now, i'll leave it going and check results later :) hehe

Byeee

Which voltage did you raise? Did you raise chipset voltage or CPU voltage? We're going to need a lot of specifics here. There are several reasons why an OC won't stabilize. What exactly did you do when OC'ing your computer and what parts do you have?

In the mean time, read this first and if that doesn't help, email me and I'll help you stabilize your system.

Ya did the exact right thing boss! When all else fails give it more voltage ;) Actually, don't to that, plz make sure u have proper cooling first, lol.

The voltage was on auto, and acording to the bios the cpu voltage was around 1.65v...i put it to like 1.75v and its ran stable since yesterday, it did about 8hours of Prime95 before i stopped it which is good enough for me I reckon. Temp at 45c load.

If I have any more problems i'll post back here though lol, thanks guys

I can't believe ur running at 1.75v on aircooling w/ 45*c load....

Sorry im getting mixed up. I HAD it on 1.75, its now on 1.7 (around a bouts). I'll show you temp screenies anyway.

Temp2 is cpu (which you knew, of course)

Thats idle atm though, just been listening to music and surfing the net.

Voltage is on the cpuz pic (Which you also knew, of course! :D)

edit: i dunno what the 128c temp is, but its been like that since i installed this board...no idea. Nothings that hot in my case, though. lol

Its also not showing fan 1's rmp..i havnt got it plugged into board for some reason, keep meaning to put it in. Its on 2000-2200 their though.

That's good mate. That's a good OC - 3200+ Barton Levels. Mine was fast so yours should be fine!!
