I actually asked Gaurang to put this up, Im a 100% supporter of Sea Shepherd, they did some amazing stuff back in the OTT asian whaling days. My Mum was an avid supporter and even from a young age I remember watching VHS's of the Original Sea Shepherd raming whaling ships. Oh the good old days, best not get me started.
Tom - Don't get me wrong here. I'm all for conservation and saving whales, I just don't agree with the way they operate and I certainly don't agree that putting peoples lives at risk is acceptable to reach their goal. I just don't believe that the end always justifies the means. I live in Northern Ireland and quite frankly that excuse has been used for decades, usually when an innocent person has been killed. I could say the same for hundreds of places all over the world and from what I can see, the only result of violent behaviour is more violent behaviour.

Yeah I also have mixed feelings about it. I'm one of the types to just donate money and put it right out of my mind. They are extremely cavalier with peoples lives out there. I support what they are doing, but its the "how" that bothers me. But you know what, at least they are actively doing something. Unlike myself sitting in a chair, may or may not be eating cheetos. Thousand of people die everyday, from things like lung cancer from smoking too much, or they get hit by buses, or get mauled by a circus tigers. So it does make sense to make a sacrifice for something you believe in, and no one can take it away from them. So good job to them! I sure as heck wouldn't be brave enough. I also don't have an Iphone.

Lolz my moms a big fan of the show as well... anyways they are the only ones on the forefront doing anything about it so you have the sea sheppard or nothing I pick the sea sheppard IMHO The laws are not doing crap about it neither is the gov so.....

Naaaa Im sorry Whales is just the 1/2 of it and yeah back in the day they did ram the whaling boats. Thats why the Japs blew it up and sunk the original Sea Shepherd, because they were being caught breaking all the laws and no one was doing anything. Their support and protests go far further than just that now.

I love watching these fools sailing around the world thinking they are making a difference. I just cant wait for the episode where the Yushin Maru 1 has a 30mm cannon on the front and blows the crap out of the Sea Shepherd. Don't get me wrong i don't agree with the Japanese whaling but the Sea Shepherd organisation is a joke. As long as Paul Watson is in charge it will achieve nothing.

As much as I like Gandhi.. peaceful protest does not solve everything there is a time and a place for that kind of act, and comparing veal to whales is ridiculous, although I don't eat baby cows which is both decadent selfish and a complete waste of a full grown animal that could feed many.(the simpsons really?) our news in the US is complete garbage that never reelly shows what important or current.. and whaling for tradition when there is food available now! That would be like the real survivors from the movie Alive continuing to eat dead people after they were back home that is senseless

If I was Japan I'd deffinatley consider joining the discussion for a negotiation if my ships weren't being attacked by some of these Eco pirates. I don't condone whaling in the slightest, but this is just reckless, like I said. Its one of those damn if you do, damn if you don't scenarios. Most governments are currently in negotiation, which is the right way to do it. People have become aware and take the steps to stop eating it, using whale products and the like. Whalers wouldn't whale if there was no use for it. I hope it will all end

Well if people don't act than there isn't really an incentive for following international laws. Especially if the laws are not enforced. Think about it this, what if the world have no police, what's there to stop you from committing crime? Same thing with whaling, people are needed to enforce the laws otherwise there's nothing stopping them.
Well last time I checked police don't ram you off the road if you run a stop sign. I agree something does need to be done, but it needs to be through the right processes. It would be great if there were boats patrolling the waters. Boats that have some authority to board the vessel, make arrests, do whatever they need to without hurting anyone. Violence under the banner of conservation is still violence. I love whales too, but i'm not sure I would trade the life of a good friend, or family member to cause these whalers an hour of annoyance, and call it a good days work. This issue has been known to devide, we might as well be talking about the chicken or the egg, republican or democrat, or discussing the secret sauce in a Big Mac. No one will agree lol
Well if police started trying to kill people for running a stop sign, I'm pretty sure that will deter people from doing it, or result in 50 billion lawsuits.
