I'd like all these external drives that rely on usb power to have a built in surge protection. 1 moment of clarity from the drive and ur mobo's usb rail is blown.
One thing I need clarifying, are these "usb 3.0" as in they work or "support" with usb 3.0 ? OR do they have something in them that their usb 2.0 variants do not ?
I'm weary of the marketing gimmick to come that sees devices splashed with usb 3.0, when all they mean is they work on them. Despite the fact their previous versions also work.
Perhaps a test is in order with a usb3.0 mobo, and 2 drives - one badged 3.0 and the other without the badge.
