a Shinobi XL

Yeah I've finally decided to put up some pics of the rig I've been working on for the longest time. Or so it feels like anyway.

More as a year ago I decided to build a watercooled rig in a Shinobi XL. I've built a watercooled rig before but that was a long time ago. And I wanted to do it right. So I bought my parts and mounted them in the case on a aircooler. So I could test all the components and in the mean time plan out the build.
Specs:
Intel Core i7 3930k
MSI Big Bang Xpower II
Mushkin Blackline 16GB, PC3-17000, 1899MHz 4x4GB
Asus Radeon HD 7970
Corsair Force GT 240Gb
Corsair Neutron GTX 240Gb
Corsair AX850
Shinobi XL, Black Logo

While I was using the rig I bought the majority of my watercooling parts
EK-Bay Spin Reservoir
EK-D5 Dual Top
Alphacool VPP655 (D5) vario
Alphacool Nexxos UT60 360
Alphacool Nexxos UT60 240
XSPC Big Bang Xpower II Chipset Blocks
EK Suppremacy Acetal+Nickel
EK-FC7970 Acetal+Nickel / with Backplate

Over the year I had some health issues, wich required some minor changes in lifestyle so the project lay dormant for a month or 3. After that I picked up on it again and made some changes to the case. Built it back up, ordered some parts, Dissasembled, fitted them, Built it up again and so on. This has gone on for the majority of past year. Made some changes to the other rig too in between.

I'm not there yet, by far but progress is really starting to show and I really want to finish it now. Still waiting for some parts and some minor things need to be redone. Could still take a month or 2

So I'll post these teaser pics and let me know what you think of it. I'll take and post some more in detail photo's next time I tear it down, also showing off what has been done to the case.

Progress so far

Thank You to Tom, for Inspiring me to start modding again (and his cool SSD on MB stands mounting idea  )

looks really nice , you can see the time taken to think about the loop, ssd looks good :-) cant wait to see the finished rig

Bottom of the mobo looks so empty, haha! Why are you using 2 8pins for the CPU? Just for looks?
Too bad the PSU isn't red! That would be so awesome!
I can imagine a lot of tubing in the CPU area. How's the loop going to go around?
I hope you're going to hide that molex under the res =)
Very good job so far =]

Thank You for the great response guys

@madness777

Lol, Yeah I've noticed it too. It's a giant empty space below the Graphics card. Most likely a sound card and another graphics card will be added in time. Or some Fuzzy Dice B) Still undecided

The 2x8pin is indeed for looks, only one will get connected.

The entire PSU in red might be a bit much. Altough a red accent would be cool indeed. Maybe I could remake the AX850 sticker with some red accents. Will look into that.

It's gonna be tight to loop it up, still awaiting some fittings. The intention is to loop it so short and tidy as possible. Not really paying attention to loop order except res to pump.
Order will most likely be
Res-> Pumps -> 240 Rad -> VGA -> Chipset -> CPU -> Mosfet -> 360 Rad -> back to res

Yep Molex, will be wired trough a hole on the rearpanel just next to the pumps, As you see it's not connected yet, because I still need to cut the molexes off and put some other connectors on that fit trough the hole

Haha! Fuzzy dice would look so unique!

I didn't mean the entire PSU lol, I meant like the sticker, yeah, like the new AX series from Corsair, or something! Would look cool!

I thought the loop is going to go around just like that =) I also think this is the best way, cuz warm water rises, plus, the top rad is going to be warmer than the front one, so a big + on that!
Will you be using painted fittings? And what color is the coolant going to be?

Maybe a AX760 would do the trick? It's black with red text.
Btw, I like the neatness of the bottom (hiding the PSU cables), but it made me wonder how you're going to do connect the cables to the appropriate headers at the bottom of the mobo... Might just be an optical illusion, but it seems that the bottom SSD is right next to the headers. Running the cables above the SSD might not be as neat ;)

If your going to add a sound card the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Zx soundcard would be perfect for the color scheme and over all a very nice card in itself

@ Madness777 I will be using Matte black fittings from Monsoon and matte black EK 90 and 45 degree rotary fittings. Tubing will be 3/8 ID 5/8 OD. I've decided to use a deep Pastel Red. Much like Michael Wood from Mayhem's posted on his channel

@BesiX Yeah, I have something similar in mind for the text on the PSU. Will have a sticker made, because it's cheaper as a new PSU

Indeed the angle of the photo taken does not show that there is about 4cm of space between where the headers are and the top of the SSD sits.
But you have a point. I'm not sure yet how I'll route them. My first idea was, to have them go trough a slot in that flat bit you can't see. But that means each and every time I want to take the cover out I have to disconnect them. Will figure something else out and still have it looking tidy. I still have to disconnect the SSD but it's alot easier then having to reconnect all the I/O ones each time

@ seumasbeathan OOPS, My bad it should indeed go into the project logs. I went in the Project Logs & Gallery section but must have clicked on the wrong subsection and created the post.

@EliteCustomPC's Thank you, I haven't checked yet what's on the market.
That's indeed a really good looking card that would fit well in there.
