A new PlayStation Handheld is reportedly in the works, and its a terrible idea

Tragically bad idea. Why the hell would anyone buy this. You can't remote play on a train or bus in most places, especially not underground, and even connected to WiFi it needs to be a good one, so that's basically all public places out of the question, hotels would be hit and miss and these are all the kinds of places where you want a portable device. I play my Switch (lite) almost entirely while traveling, it's my go to on a plane or train or if I'm chilling at a hotel, none of which this would be suitable for and if it was, I can just use my phone to stream games.

I can appreciate that the Vita struggled because of a small library and hesitation to build for a small portable user base, but this is not the answer. 2023 phone hardware is damn powerful, I wouldn't be surprised if you could run PS4 games at a low resolution (say 540p-720p) as a base library and then encourage more native games, most of which could just be scaled down PS5 games - the Vita was able to do that for a few games, definitely more possible now than ever, the AMD APUs are really powerful, just look at the Steam Deck.

This thing will flop tragically, Xbox has excellent cloud gaming that I actually use, but still not building something so stupid
