9800xt dead :(

Last night before going out i was greeted with a black screen, thinking nothing of it i turned off the PC and went out. When i returned i turnewd on my PC, and again i was greeted with a black screen. Bios resetting memory changing etc was not successful and i was gettin really cheesed off. So i tryed another graphics card..success!

However i knew that my card was in the **** and inspected it, some AS5 was on some traces so i thought ok lets clean this mofo up. Upon doing so i reapllied some more thermal crap and put everythin back together, I retryed the card to no avail. 3 hrs of my life wasted and my favourite card dead as a dodo..not a good day.

The worst bit comes when i say that im in a clan and that im needed for online games, ****. With an mx440 i have no chance. So if anyone around here has a card that is not currently used thats AGP and will play CSS PERFECTLY then can you please contact me so i can make an offer. I dont wanna spend much, infact i dont wanna spend anythin because i want an x1800 series card at xmas to go with my new mobo. Thnx for letting me shed my anger as i really need to play some matches But hey **** happens.

Mate - Really sorry to hear that news, I know u had to sell ur soul to get it, seems a little unfortunate that it went the way it did too.

Is RMA possible? ~Maybe someone has a stock cooler for your card so you can try and send it back for repair?

I got me dad a 9700pro for xmas so that will release a radeon 64meg 8500 AGP, other than that mate I can help much more (got a back PCI-E 6600 but thats no good to you is it?),

Thnx lads, and no i dont think the 6600 will fit in my AGP port thnx so much for offering, im basically gonna be out of action until xmas, which is when i get my new rig. Then my brothers get this one. Which was supposed to include a 9800ct but o well. Im so gutted about this, and as u said i can try get the stock cooler. Think im gonna PM gray

Harsh, if it happened not long ago I would have lent you one of my 6800U or XTPE's, sold them all now

Good luck finding another - you may be able to pick up an X800 pretty cheap off ebay and you'd probably get your money back especially if you find a flashable to XTPE one!

Sorry to hear that mate, if you pick up something used your likely to get back what you paid at least going bu the current state of used agp cards.

Wow mate I'm really sorry to hear that card died

I hardwired the cooler (AC Silencer) on it to make sure that the dodgy power feed for the cooling fan wouldn't be a problem too. Never trusted 'em on the 9800xt's, it was the most common cause of failure.

That 9600pro I swapped for it with you died as well, funny enough. Wasn't even oc'ing it, just one of the pwmic's burnt up on it.

Wish I had something else for you too, but I'm just using a X300 for my display and it's not exactly a gamer either.

Bought a 9700pro off someone but that got lost in the post as well.

Hope you can get ahold of a decent card mate

damn man friggin ironic. Two cards of mine die from pretty much a silent death, im not a happy bunny. Sorry to hear it died m8. And the Arctic cooler is still working Great mod .
