9800GX2 vs HD3870X2 full review!

All of those reviews TBH are terrible. One doesnt even have any SLI enabled from what I can see.

I think ill wait for some proper reviews and some proper drivers because TBH this card should get atleast identical performance to 2x 8800GT 512 in SLI and nothing under.

Now this is pretty constructive.

What appears to be the case:
  • If your on XP, the new cards will be a benefit.
  • If your between 1280x1024 and 1920x1200 native res, and have an 8800GT - theres very little point in upgrade (unless your on XP)
  • If you have, or look to get 1920x1200 and above, with either OS, the newer cards will benefit you over the likes of the 8800GT.
  • The quality settings bonus.

But, the newer game releases should be Dx10 orientated, with Vista in mind.

SLI isn't even enabled in vista, they couldn't do it. Basically in that review on anything run on vista you are looking at 8800GT vs 8800GTS 512. Just one core.

Last links a decent read on the XP front..

Not sure about the GX2 to be honest.. Optimistic about the GTX though if reported pricing is to be believed.

Hmmm does look a bit....

Just been doing a little search and this made me laugh.. I know its a very little bit off subject but check out the "released specs"... A touch wrong..

My favourite bit is this:
GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world games and applcations.

God I`d be chomping at the bit to get one!

Me too! The new GTX basically performs IRL just better than the old GTX/ultra! (from what i have seen). With the 790i mobo shaping up to be pretty awesome I think I'll be forced to get an sli rig.

Either that or wait for the r770...

let's skip this G92 crap & look forward to RV770/G100

Yeah but when were talking about gfx cards 'skip' means just the same as 'wait bloody ages' which really isn't much fun :)

Meh, a year.. unless something like an UltraXXX edition comes out later in the year.

I reckon that GTX, with all it`s power input, has to have scope to do alot more.

Apparantly with the latest new driver 3dmark06 jumped from 13k to 15k with this card.

So there is still hope for this.

mmm still lots of bugs but when SLI works it does awesome on 1920x1200.

Look at crysis! 1920x1200 at 50fps! And they say at the end 1920x1200 on high was 34FPS average. 34FPS on crysis very smooth as its a slow pace game, silly writer doesn't account for that though.

Aw i was about to post that too! Now they are claiming the 9800GX2 is being bottlenecked by CPU.

It is sometimes. Like in one on all resolutions it comes out at 50FPS.

Its vista though, so meh.
