970 SLI 4K issues

Hi all,

I hope somebody can help as I have been pulling my hair out on a problem with my new build.

The build is specifically made for 4K gaming on a Samsung 55HU8500 4K Led TV but it doesn't seem to work.

When playing in 4K BF4 the screen seems to disconnect from time to time, I seem to have isolated it to graphic intensive scenes (loads of people, loads of explosions, etc...), and that only happens in SLI, in single mode I have no problems.

So as far as I can find on the internet is that it could be related to the SLI bridge or the way the motherboard handles SLI. So before heading out and buying a new motherboard with better SLI handling, I wanted to double check with you guys.

This is the build:
4790K @ stock
16GB Corsair dominator 2400mhz @ XMP profile
Asus Z97-PRO Wifi AC
2x Asus 970 Strix in SLI
EVGA Supernove 750G Gold PSU
Corsair H105

Cooling seems to be ok, cards never go over 65c and CPU is around the same temps.

Would changing to a more "Gaming" oriented board with better SLI handling be a good solution? (Maximus VII?)

Cheers,

E.

It's not the motherboard! As long as the chipset is the same there is no real difference between motherboards regarding SLI or CFX. Well as SLI bridges go, I don't think that your bridge is broken but should you wish you can go buy one of those EVGA SLI bridges that have a led on and look just beautiful!
Since the 970s are new I suspect that the drivers aren't as stable as the older generation for now. What I mean is that NVIDIA hasn't managed to make a better SLI profile for Battlefield4 at the time of writing this. I recommend you start using BetaDrivers to see if you are going to get a better profile any sooner.

Thanks :)

I might have found another source to the problem although it seems very weird. Instead of plugging the PC in the same wall plate as the TV I'm now testing with it connected to another poser socket and the problem seems to have vanished.

I'm running some 3D Mark tests to validate if it correctly disappeared.

I believe your problem is similar to the issues that people experienced with the Seiki 4k TV's, have a google at those and hopefully what they did helps.

Samsung Tvs after a few minutes of being on will do a self test check and the screen will go black then a second later come back on. Doesn't matter what it is displaying that's what the new tvs do. It only does this once for every time it powers up though.

Unfortauntely I believe OP was getting it even after the startup phase. At least it seems to have been patched up by OP changing the socket.
