One of my biggest reasons to build a new system, besides my gaming laptop getting long in the tooth, is that I need a stronger system to run my X-Plane 11 flight sim. Flight sim's are much more cpu intensive than gpu intensive. However, being that I am using a Ryzen 1700, it is said that they work better with higher end gpu's.
So my question is, how much "real world" difference do you guys think there would be in my getting the Zotac Geforce GTX 1080 AMP Extreme GPU 8gb vs the 11gb??? I'm just not sure it's worth another $150 usd? What say you?

You are comparing a GTX 1080 (8gb) to a GTX 1080 Ti (11gb) they are very different cards.

As to the performance difference, it is about 30%.:)

Yeah, I've been leaning towards the ti without a doubt, but was wondering if the $300 price difference was worth it? Pretty sure I'll stick with the 1080ti. Thanks for the responses.

Do you run multiple monitors or VR or what? I found going to triple 1080p panels really taxes my GPU memory. I only have 4gb but it's 100% usage a lot of the time in game. 8GB would get you comfortably running them at much higher frame rates. (I play Elite Dangerous, DCS and IL-2. I run SLI 980's)

If I was in the market for a new GPU I'd definitely go the Ti. Nothing is future proof but it will be a much better long term bet. Unless you pick up a 1080 for a bargain of course. Also don't get confused by things like the Asus 1080 Strix 11Gbps version. That's the speed not the capacity of the RAM.
