So I was wondering what would be better for the system I am planning to build 8GB 1866 MHz or 16GB 1600 MHz RAM. In the past I never really cared about this before I just used to throw in something and prey it would work but I would like to know because I was looking at buying some Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB at 1866 MHz but then for the same price (near enough) I can buy 16GB of 1600 MHz of Corsair Vengeance RAM so all I can really say is... Help please o.o .

what are you gonna do with it? video editting/rendering or gaming?
gaming = 8gb and video editting rendering = 16gb, the 1600 or 1866 MHz doesnt really matter

my advice is to go with the 16gb vengeance kit ...if you want to do editing and all that kind of stuff is the most obvious choice for me ..on the other hand if your editing is not going to take that much time from your time spent on the pc go with the platinum which is better looking but again with the 1600mhz kit and save some money ...there is not going to be a massive amount of diffence between the two kits ..what i mean is that you are not going to notice any difference !!

unless you really care about the looks take the 16 gb as its the same price..
or you start with 8gb and later on upgrade to another 8gb if you think you need it

be careful on short buying RAM. sometimes buying 8GB now and in some time buying the alegedely
same kit can cause issues. the 4x4 kits are "matched" kits, buying 2 4x2 kits can have a bad
situation unless they are from the same batch.
so far, since you really hadn't taken the app plunge, using a 16GB 1600 kit would be the safe bet
as we do not know any system specs or appz used. vid editing and PS rendering will need huge
on-demand storage and the RAM speed will not matter all that much. but again, not knowing the
system specs makes this a speculative guess.
