Well scan and OCUK have them in apparently, as most people probably already know.

On the hunt for the cheapest GTS atm...

Seems like the GTS versions are coming out between £340 and £364.

But hey, u buy the GTX which looks 10 feet long, between £446 and £481, nominally with a free game deal - woohoo!

Cheaper makes seem to be Palit - who I`ve never heard of or had experience of mehself, and the rest XFX ASUS LEADTEK.

Don`t think these are regular prices yet either, companies will probably tries to undercut each other by a handfull of pounds for a week or more. Just to cover the surge.

(what interested me more was seeing OEM versions of Windo$e Home edition being sold for ~£55 with a Vista upgrade voucher)

I see them as well, the only problem is that the upgrade is for the basic version of vista only

Microsoft are no more money-hungry than any other big corporation. They've spent hundreds of millions on developing Vista and they want it back with interest. The only difference is that Microsoft are pretty much guaranteed it back and they'll make a fortune

Most firms would die to have the product Microsoft have

By all means necessary. Many firms have died so that m$ can have their product.

If OSs were free Windo$e wouldn`t exist ;) (free with lets say a mobo) We`d be using one of the better alternatives, prehaps.

The problem there is, how do u entice a software firm to write stuff for that platform ? OR write stuff for our platform and not the other platform. Pretty similar to Sony vS Ninetendo.

Enter Microsoft.

Exactly. MS has driven innovation in gaming, but due to the amount of people who can't distance themselves from the industry they are never recognised. Yes they are monopolising the industry but they do drive a lot of innovations

I`d more pair the lack of innovation and uniqueness/originality of todays badly programmed, overpriced, games, particularly series games that fail to meet expectations year after year, with the rise to the reign of windo$e as the main platform for computers. To hand it to them tho, the suckers, I mean public will shell out for the items every year, even tho they half expect to be disappointed, and thus pockets get fatter - all for the hope that prehaps this will be the year they listened to the feedback they had. There are of course minor exceptions each year, very few and far between. The genres came to a standstill. Certain games are stuck in the same design their prequels were 3 or 4 years ago, oh but there`s a nice fmv to view at the beginning, u need another 1g and the latest DX.. for why ?

It`s hard to compete, u can`t exactly go back to the time where the top game for 3 years running was written and designed by a kid/guy in his bedroom. Although looking at Premiership Manager, Football Manager and Championship Manager, not very much has changed in terms of content.

Pcs are now "multitasking", although I still look at my G15 and see alot of one side of the processor being used, apps waiting for other apps b4 they do anything, unless I tell them. OSs nearly 20 years ago used to multitask natively, and chipsets used to exist that could cope with it, but we stepped backward and sideways in favor of the pursuit of the $/£ and not necessarily what`s good for science or the industry. The industry that doesn`t commit itself to filling one group of people`s pockets over the arguably better good of technology. Throw more hertz at it, don`t worry about silly things like better instruction sets.

The more creativeness, designwize and originality I see coming from the far east, myself. Not necessarily pc related, not even Sony. They do run the games in their native language and years on sell the code onto the westerners in a number of cases, good for them. In the west, u tend to throw more money at things to get them going, then purge it back off the society that has little choice. Same ole same ole.

U can`t tell me that a progress line, in terms of technology, has moved on in great leaps and bounds when u compare the release of Win 95 and Vista. Sure Vista is better, but 11/12 years better ? Could more have been done by another company ? One that is maybe now dead ? Compare that with other technologies just over 10 years and see how they`ve moved on. If u presented u`r own personal work to some1 in 95 as Win 95 and produced Vista as u`r latest work in 2006, surely people, u`r bosses, would ask u "what the hell have u been doing all this time ?".

I`d semi expect that line to not come back into stock. It`s approx £150 cheaper than any1 else is selling it, and the pic is of the GTS.

Order one now! What they call it in the UK ? The trade description act ? lol

hehehehe, if only

i read something about that a while ago and apparently the shops are not obligated to sell for the lower price if it's a genuine mistake or something (not entirely sure of the specifics)

I'll be buying a GTX once the shops stop price gouging
