£800 budget for first build

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum but I've been reading through many threads here over the past few days trying decide on what to include in my first build. To be honest, I feel lost looking at all the different hardware available and don't want to make the wrong choice as I'd like this machine to last me a while.

I'd really appreciate it if you guys could give me some advice on what to spend my money on. I'm not a hardcore gamer at all but would like for the machine to be able to handle some games. I see myself using the machine mainly for movies, music, surfing the internet and a little photoshop. I'd like for the computer to be as snappy and responsive as the budget allows (not the most patient person

). Could you also advise me on a decent display? I'm after a monitor with a good picture quality and good viewing angles.

Thank you and sorry for being a noob lol. I may be willing to push the budget a little bit more if needed.

I assume your British since your budget is in pounds, this build is from Aria and almost on the money if you can scavenge a dvd drive. You dont mention if you have any hardware at all. like mouse, keyboard, screen, cables etc. Or if you need the screen now you can skip the SSD, but i would not advice that since you request snappyness. this thing will play anything for a long time and do all the stuff you want at the same time. You could also get it all and buy the screen next month

Hi, thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I don't have any hardware for the system at all as I've left my old computer and all the peripherals to my younger brother. I'm guessing this means I'll have to skimp on some of the parts if I want to remain within the budget which is a shame since I like what you've listed. The £600 rig sounds interesting though and leaves me with enough to sort myself out with a monitor and input devices. I'm also gonna need to spend some more money buying the OS too. This is more expensive than I thought lol. May end up buying some crap from packard bell

Whatever you do DONT go the packard bell route!

That route you will overpay for what your really getting.

I personaly do thin you could build yourself a half decent gaming machine.

You don't need an SSD of even a 2500K to get good FPS.

Take a look at this and hopefully it will give you some ideas http://www.youtube.c...h?v=uW1NdcHSUiw

Hey, i can see where you are comming from like a lot of people when they get in to this sort of thing, the vast array of hardware and software availible can get overwhelming hehe, i will say one thing i definatly tho i do not think you need an ssd for what you want you can get the speed without spending it on one of those and you could use your cash elsewhere but what has been suggested so far seems good.

Im not going to do a list of hard/software etc on here becuase you will probably get loads lol, if you would like me too tho pm me and i will do a build for you.

Much love and happy building.
