7970 now, or wait?

Hello,

I am a new user here and this will be my first post.
I would like to ask for some opions on my upgrade plan.
I was looking at the prices of GPU's the other day. And saw
that the 7970 dropped in price alot (320 euros now). And
since i was going to upgrade anyway i have bin thinking about
upgrading to it. But i also know the new AMD-gpu series wil be out soon.

Now what i would like to know. Do you recommend to upgrade now or wait for
the new series? (Im using eyefinity (1080p x3) on a 7870, as you might have guessed. I could use an upgrade)

Also, im wanting to upgrade to the Asus 7970 matrix (I am a guy who wants his computer to look awesome and that is one of the best looking coolers i have ever seen)

Any advice is welcome!

I am using an I7 2600 (at stock speed 3.6 i think but dont qoute me on that) a random MSI motherboard wich has bin treating me well for almost two years. 16 gb corsair 1333 ram. And i mostly play games like left4dead, teamfortress, portal 1/2, amnesia and with some black ops 2 and battlefield 3 from time to time.

As you can tell i not a real intensive gamer but the 7870 i have now just doesnt cut it. My budget is around 350 euros.

a hd 7970 would be a good card for your budget.

whether you buy that card now or wait for next generation amd gpus to arrive is your choice. you may get a 7970 cheaper after they release, the choice is up to you.

That might have bin an option. But my powersupply doesnt have the conections nor does my motherboard :/

that depends on many thing, price of the next generation, performance of the next generation and stocks of previous generation cards after launch.

the simple answer is we don't know, its up to yourself.

faster me better board and psu would most likely allow your system to breath more life. As you'd be able to oc it some remember 2nd 3rd and 4th gen intels are bandwidth whores they like faster memory.

I would wait as the launch is supposed to be in six days and if not then just get a 7970 as they are a really good card I'm using one myself
